Default Design question

Can you spot the two significant design elements on these cars that make them the most beautiful ever made. If you can we might be able to bring our XK closer to them.

No. I don't even like the first one, though (and would describe it as ugly), which will be making it tougher!!

Well you have said the equivalent of, I cant spot what's crucial about Michel Angelo's sculptures and they were ugly.

I am afraid you may have to wait a bit longer till someone else has some suggestions.

I don't think either hit solidly on the 'most beautiful ever made' comment. Older ones window bows are way too low and the newer one looks like too many other same gen cars. Neither stand out in their own right.

Design elements, long nose, short tail. Bulging flanks and gonna have a hard time seeing stop lights from either of them. The XK already shares those traits. There does appear to be a lot of the earlier ones DNA in the newer one which also mimics the XK.

Perhaps a nudge in the right direction?

The clues are right in front of you in the image. See how tough design actually is.
Here is another.

Funny enough but I like both of the designs. Now take it for what it's worth as I owned and like my old Daimler SP250 too. The old Maz has the rounded front wings with the oval type grill. Both some traits of Jaguar XK150 evolving to XKE. The AM smoothed out the wedge style while having similar form to the X150 body style. It is more of a smoothed out wedge design. As I said I'd take either one.

Jagtoes you are the one I wanted to see win the most.

But no, its way more significant than that to do with mathematics.

Third clue- draw a grid in your mind, put the car in it.
For those who want to guess it by words alone, Trump and Melania both love this thing.

What's the spec of the grid though a 3x2 0r 3x3 and so on.
Without a term of reference we are stu, bling in the dark
I can only think you are saying ther is a Fibonacci curve in the mix somewhere.

I don't know the technical term for it. But to me it's the overall curvature of the body that caries through from the grille to the rear extremity. Not only is it prominent in the bonnet and roof line, but carries through at the bottom of the windows and fender lines.

PsiFox you are on the right track

Ralph you said the same thing as PsiFox thats the technical term. But not quite.

Clue number 4: what is the oddest thing you notice about the black car in picture number three. What stands out?

But what does that mean and why are they disproportionately larger than the car.

What does it mean?
Either the tyres are to big, although they seem to fill the gap nicely
Or
It's being pimped out by some rap artist.

Not sure how it applies to any of these three cars but... Golden Ratio?

BINGO!
Dabrunn guessed it.

It applies absolutely perfectly. The canopy is 1 to 2 to the body, as are many other elements. Its the formula to beauty. Even the human body is 2x legs to 1 torso.

I had said there were 2 distinct elements.
The wheel arch line comes up to the door handle.

Larger wheels on the Aston in the original picture make that effect more possible than the stock wheels in the diagram above.
