Detailing Product Suggestions?
What do you suggest using when cleaning/detailing your XK/XKR for the following surfaces?
For example, I use Armor-All on plastic/vinyl, but not on leather. Any suggestions for any or all of the following?
INTERIOR
A. Seats
B. Dash
C. Burlwood veneer
D. Glass
E. Interior Plastic
F. Carpet
EXTERIOR
A. Paint
B. Allow Wheels
C. Tires
D. Glass
E. Chrome Trim

Get rid of the Armor-All. (Quick story: the girlfriend of my friend who raced his E-type "helped" clean his car by spraying the seats with Armor-All. He almost died when he got to the first turn on the track and slid nearly halfway off his now slippery seat!)
Products I use (YMMV)
Chemical Guys VRP (Vinyl, Rubber, Plastic) for the, well, vinyl, rubber, and plastic parts. Keeps the parts supple and has UV protection.
Meguiar's Leather Cleaner/ Conditioner for the seats and dashboard. Again, UV protection. As a bonus, it doesn't make your car smell like an old boot.
Turtle Wax brand Ceramic Spray for the paint (including the plastic-coated wood trim of the interior) and the alloy wheels. It is inexpensive and easy to use. I use it every time
I wash my car.

1) stop using Armor-all on ANY part of your car.
2) wax the wood with a good carnauba wax (the same that you use on the exterior paint and chrome). This same wax can be used on the alloy wheels to allow brake dust to be easily removed; it can also be used on the glass, and no, this does not interfere with wiper function. And the same wax on the headlamps to prevent UV damage.
3) use a GOOD non-silicone leather conditioner on all the leather in the car. AutoGlym Leather Balm and Lexol are both good but there are others.
my experience: 25 years of preparing Jaguars for Concours showing.
