For the diff oil, I used Ravenol MDL from Blauparts.com. Works great and no more shuddering. It is Jaguar approved. In fact, I buy oil for my Porsche, Range Rover and Jag there. Great service, prices and shipping..

Sorry, it does not meet JLR specifications. It may indeed work though, just not recommended.

Interesting 75-90w was intinally recommended on the ls Lincoln Gen 2 diff (which is the xk/r 4.2 open diff) then somewhere along the way they changed their recommendation to a 75-140w so obviously it's applicable to our own jaguar diff .

Yes it's curious, XKR 2007 don't have DSL no? 75-90W is for not DSL and 75-140 is for DSL. I don't understand why the spec are changed. It's difficult have information.

Neither the xk or xkr have limited slip differential your correct it's confusing as 75-140w is recommended for LSD .

It was believed that switching from 75-90w to a 75-140w would extend the life of the differential so I guess thats why there was a change to the recommendations .

On a side note I'm currently running a 2005 ford thunderbird 3.58 diff and upon installation I filled it with a 75-140w however on two occasiond I have topped it up with a 75-90w .

I believe either is fine one is going to be a lower friction and the revised recommendation 75-140w is meant to prolong the life of the differential.
