Does anyone regret selling their XK?
It's almost a year since I haven't had my XK and it's been really depressing without it. Does anyone feel the same about getting rid of theirs? I always thought that the grass was greener on the other side, but I was surely wrong.
Maybe down the road I could get an XKR since it will be more aggressive than the xk convertible.

My experience is that anytime you sell a Jaguar, any Jaguar, you regret it. There is something about these cars that no other marque can match. With regard to the XK, though, it has to be the combination of beauty, luxury, reliability, performance and handling; other cars may excel in one or the other category (not beauty!) but no car does so many thing so well.

I must say that I do regret trading my '08 XK for the '12 XJL. Not only was the XK beautiful, it was dead-on reliable, drove well, etc.
My XJL has something wrong with the ride and I am finding out the bad side of Jaguar. Unreturned phone calls from Jaguar NA. As a loyal Jaguar customer (4 Jags in a row) I would expect to be treated MUCH better. I may have to resort to hiring a lawyer, something I was very much hoping to avoid.
Yes, I wish that I kept the XK and, despite Jaguar's stonewalling me, I keep looking at XK(R) listings repeatedly.

The first Jag I owned was maybe 10 years ago when I bought a 1999 XK8, as I'd lusted after the original XK ever since they first came out and always wanted one.
After about a year I stupidly sold it rather than pay the cost of having it in storage for an unknown time. I never forgot that car and always missed it, imperfections and all, so 4 yrs ago I bought a 2000 XKR. I traded that one in about 2 years ago for a 2008 XKR portfolio. I love my current Jag but unlike every other car/brand I've owned, I still miss and appreciate all the earlier ones I've owned too. Even though each car was a clear upgrade to the last, and each added some improved aspect to the character from that of the previous, there was always a certain indefineable thing that got lost each time I switched cars too.
Even though I now have a great car that is arguably better than my previous ones in almost every way, Whenever I see an old-shape XK/R I still very much appreciate it and even wish I (still) had one too.
It's a stark contrast to the many other cars of all brands I've owned. I can hardly remember most of them, let alone seriously want any of them them back (except maybe the Ferrari).
The point I'm very badly making is that there's definitely just something very unique about Jags...

That being said I love the car!

I totally agree with the "attitude" of jaguar service people. My experiance has been that once car is purchased, they are then doing you a favor by servicing the car. I have owned 5 jags, after the 2nd which i sold in "99 I vowed never to own another because of the a--holes at the dealership. Oh well, Have bought 3 this yr, sold one, the two new ones 09 and 10 xks are by far superior to the others and hope that most of my services can be done locally (non-warranty) and not have to deal with Jaguar. I agree there is something about the brand that is just entrancing vs. other car companies.

But if you give up a car for the right reasons, and if you can look forward to owning another beauty in the future, then that should help. There will be pristine and very accessible XKs available for years, or perhaps even something else that's lust-worthy, and you could look forward to that instead of looking back!

PS: Regarding service issues...I've just accepted that dealer service will likely be poor on anything that I buy. I hope to be proven wrong, but that allows me to separate my choice of car from the fear of poor service. And if I don't like the service at one place I can try another that others find to be satisfactory.

I have sold 2 Jaguars and it's always a bittersweet thing. It is a relief not being responsible any longer for such a moneysuck of a car (depreciation, and especially maintenance and repairs), but it is even more sad when you realize you've just traded in a beautiful piece of art for an toaster oven-like appliance.
Many cars are more engaging and fun to drive than the Jaguars I've had, but none of them have been more satisfying to own. There can't be love without pain!

that sums it up right there. I miss my juiced up m3 convertible with a 6 speed but my XKR in red (vert) owning it 10x better than imagined.

Having come from Lexus (where they dash to the car to hold your door and greet you) and Audi (where the loaner car is something new off their lot in hope of seeing you buy in the future). Jaguars "We'll see what we can do", and "Here's the number to Enterprise rental service, maybe they can send a driver over to pick you up..." service attitude has been the only sour side to my Jag experience.
I love my XK, but then, I have loved so many cars in my life, that I realize the futility of thinking this is the last...
I hope to drive many more great cars before I pass!

I lasted three years between XKs, but when it came time to start thinking about my next car there was no question as to what I really wanted. I'm loving being back in an XK. There really is nothing like the fit and finish of these cars and you ALWAYS look forward to walking up to it to get in.
As to the service department issues, I have had the opposite experience. Our local service department is very accommodating, but the sales staff is certainly lacking. The day I purchased my new (to me) XK I went to the local Jaguar dealership to look at a 2013 they had on their lot. I was on the lot for at least 10 minutes without a single person coming out to greet me. I got back in my car and ended up at a small used car dealer who had a 2011 on their lot. When I brought my new 2011 in to the local Jag service department to get a new replacement key that the other dealer provided for me I was welcomed and treated very well. I was even offered another service appointment to have the car checked out to see if anything needed to be done under the service warranty.
Hope you find your way back into an XK. All cars have their quirks, but it's a lot easier to put up with them when you are driving something as stunning as an XK.

The two I did not go to are at least good with part deliveries for both our Jag and Range Rover when my indy orders parts.

I will only part with my '09 Portfolio if I find the right deal on a French Blue XKR-S. I waited too long as it is to get behind the wheel of my current XKR, and I made sure to get the one I really wanted at the time. If I am going to part ways with my Portfolio someday, it will be when I get the one I currently really want at the price I want. I'm in no hurry, my Portfolio is too wonderful for words.

I have never owned an XK but reading about other experience with Jaguar is making me laugh quite a bit. I took mine into the local Jag dealership for an oil change/service and was told me my car was "undrivable" without a $2k repair, recommended $6k or fake estimates. Washed the car, charged me $120 and didn't even change the oil. I'm actually thinking they never even looked at the car. Needless to say I never got that repair done, and 6 months later it's still reliably taking me to two jobs every day.
I was browsing the XFs while I waited, and 4 people came and told me that my car was "ready." I kind of felt almost escorted out of the show room. Needless to say I won't be going to that one again for any reason. Sorry if this all has strayed a bit from topic.
