Default door edge guards

Hey Folks,

Anyone have a recommendation for door edge guards for our XK series?
I'm thinking a dark or color coded (if available) would be preferred.

Personally, I don't think that door edge guards would look nice on an XK. If concerned with chipping the paint on your doors edge just use a bit more caution when opening the door…… but, if you are really set on them, then I guess colour coded (probably not available unless you have hem painted) are the way to go. Less noticeable that way

A little over a year ago, a company called ZPEL gave away some of their Door Edge Guard Kits on these forums in a drawing. I won one, but have to admit that I haven't gotten around to trying it. Clear plastic, probably something like a vinyl wrap, just narrow enough for the door edge.

My wife's Lexus came factory with the edge guards. They are transparent much like a clear bra and I didn't even realize it had them until weeks after she got it.

Currently, I have a clear version on my Venza, that's silver. They blend nicely. I'm thinking black or dark blue as my color is the celestial black. For now, I've been very cautious, as has been my passenger........

I just saw a vid on a 3M product that seems to be a nice fit. It's thin and clear without the bulkiness of those other edges.

I always used to put them on my cars until a car appraiser told me that when they are removed they leave marks on the door that reduce the appraisal value of the car. So I took them off the other car we had at the time, and sure enough they left marks that were very difficult to remove.

Yeah, I can see how that might happen. The version I purchased is more of a "wrap" style. I'm thinking (hoping too) it'll offer enough cushion to prevent a nic/chip, should the inevitable occur. We'll see......
