Default Door Lock question

I've never actually tested my door locks to see if they worked. Just pushed the lock button on the handle or the remote and walked away. Lights flashed (no horn beep). The other day I was in the garage and I pulled the handle. Door should have been locked but instead it opened. The alarm went off of course. Ran in the house and got the keys to she it off.

So what's up with that? Yes I read the manual. I see nothing unusual. And I'm also aware that it's a passive lock system so I don't need to store the keys in a lead bow in may basement when not in use. How is it that I can open the door?

I have SDD, never messed with anything door related so the doors could have been doing this for years.

please tell me I'm doing something stupid or can correct via SDD by enabling a feature.

Edit: when I lock the doors, I see and hear the door latches inside the vehicle move into lock position.

Wow that's a surprise. Like you I just push the door handle button, watch the mirrors fold in and walk away. Similarly I've occasionally pulled on the door handle when car parked in garage and always been locked. So now I'm going to try that more often. I don't have any thoughts to offer but would hook up SDD and look at any DTC's - should have something as you triggered the alarm.

Thanks. Yep looks like I'll need to pull up SDD when I get a chance. It's only the driver's side that opens from the outside while locked. Passenger side is working correctly.

I push the door button or the remote twice, hear the locks pull in and on the second push, hear the alarm sounder. Still sometimes, mine will open when the key is not in my pocket. Brutal said I need to replace the latch mechanism.

Double beep from the sounder is an error message because you tried to double-lock your car. The double-lock feature is not available on North American models because it disables the inside door handles and prevents someone inside from getting out, a safety hazard.

Locking is configurable from the Vehicle settings on the touchscreen. Make sure you have them set properly.

When all else fails,
