No offense to the designer of the product, but I've never desired a convertible top that went down with a remote. I get that it would quickly cool the car off, but remote start would do it. At least on these cars you have a tonneau built into the car, I get it even less on the X100 where you have to open the trunk, attach the cover, button the two snaps, close the trunk etc.
I'm curious, what's the selling point to you all about it?

Not only better, remote top is WAY cool.
Why do you have a Jaguar instead of a Toyota Camry?
Cuz it's COOL.
Q: Why would you want a convertible top that actually operates with a button??? What's wrong with the older tops where you get to get out, unclamp, grab the roof and pull it up by hand???
It is also nice to actually have control over those two rear-quarter windows.

WhiteXKR's kit, with the optional rear window controller, enables the rear windows to be raised or lowered with the top up or down. Both rear windows move simultaneously; you can't raise one and lower the other. They operate independently of the front windows.
Although a remote controlled top isn't a necessity, it's worth it to have the rear window controls. As ralphwg mentioned in his Post #13, above, the cabin is really calm at 65mph with the top down, a rear wind deflector, and all four windows up. It's what the factory forgot.

For the same reason you have an air conditioned convertible. Why do you need AC when you put the top down? Because it's more comfortable on really hot days. The selling point for me is the rear window controller. Sometimes I prefer driving with the top up and all four windows down. A nice breeze without the sun beating down on the bald spot!

The wind deflection of being able to have the rear windows up does seem to be a nice functional benefit. I just somewhat worry about automation in a convertible top being operated remotely if there is a problem with the top assembly or hydraulics and how that fault would be handled; such as the person with the xk on a lift and possibly ramming the top into the garage ceiling or opener. I personally prefer manual tops anyway, but was curious what the feature benefit was other than doing with a remote what you do with the top button inside other than it's cool.

For me, in addition to the rear window option, I really like the one touch up and down function. Having to sit through the entire sequence, holding the button, never made sense. On my '07 being able to operate the rear windows was important, but not so much on the '12 as I discovered the ability to lower the rear windows with the top up.
I am still going to get the remote control for the '12. Just have to see if I have any funds left after holiday later this month.

As I think I mentioned before but will mention again I think the one touch open/close modification is a great asset to convert owners. It should have been a standard feature from the factory. The part that concerns me is the remote feature because I assume you turn on the electronics of the system to activate the top which in turn starts a power draw on the battery. For those who have a min. battery charge this could render the car DOA. My procedure for opening the top is to start the car and while in open loop idle I open the top. By the time the engine goes into closed loop at reduced idle the top is down and stowed and I drive away. If the one button press was locked out until the ignition was on and the car started I would think this exposure would be eliminated. Other then that it's a great feature.
