Andy I gotta tell you I am surprised that there is no other work being done by the tech's to determine if the wiring harness is the problem. If they went through the wiring diagram they should be able to isolate the wires that affect this circuit. They could ring out the wires and determine if there is a resistance problem or a short. They should also be able to bench test the clutch motor and check resistance of all of the sensors involved. There should also be voltage values that they could check in the module and back to the ECU. I can imagine that the replacement is going to be a difficult thing to do as I suspect they will have to remove a lot of the interior to rerun the harness. Good luck here and I hope they find it.

One issue here is I don't get to talk to the tech, I haven't insisted but I deal with the Jaguar service manager. The local dealer is a pretty big set up with both BMW and Land Rover franchise.
They originally thought it was the connector, first attempted fix was to rebuild and replace contacts in the connector, then replace the connector, and now replace the harness. So from this and knowing that they have been sharing codes and details with the UK, I have to assume they have done due diligence on there investigation and there not just shooting form the hip.
