I use a “Battery Minder” and rotate it for a week at a time around 3 batteries I keep charged during the winter months. It charges and desulphates the batterys . My 98 XK8 ‘Jaguar’ labeled (Varta?) battery is 10 years old this year, and my Aircraft AGM battery is 6, both are still going strong!
Re load testing batteries, the proper way is to load to ½ the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) rating of the battery for 15 seconds. Most car batteries are rated in excess of 600 CCA and therefore need to be loaded to at least 300 amps for 15 seconds, and depending on the battery temp should hold upwards of 10 volts.
Load testers that max out at 100 amps might be OK to test a motorcycle battery but you’d need 3 or more to test an average car battery.
Regards,
White Bear.

If you set it up initially so that you simply plug it in via the hardwired plug in the trunk, then there's no excuse, other than memory, not to keep the battery in top shape.

OK thanks. I have "B. Tenders" on my E-Type, Mustang and Allstate 250 motorcycle. All have never failed me. Until I sold my XJR, it too had a tender when not in use.
Happy Trails....

Although the battery on our cars is expensive, unless it was changed recently, I would always just change it and go from there. Our cars are too sensitive to anything funky happening to our batteries and most issues are related. Glad yours got resolved.

Here again, IMO...a lead-acid sealed battery with a maintainer will handle the needs of the car well. I see no need to go through extra expense to install the AGM.

However, some end users may feel better and secure by owning and installing the AGM. I guess it comes down to "whatever floats your boat" and how much you're willing to spend.

Just my .02 cents worth, which is probably not worth too much.
Just a thought--when the X150 came out in 2006, were AGM batteries common?

I ordered my 3rd CTEK 3300 Smart Charger from Amazon tonight.

The price is the lowest I've seen anywhere.

So, if any other forum member has an interest, here's the link.

Price is $50.55 + free shipping.

Amazon.com: CTEK Multi US 3300 12-Volt Smart Battery Charger: Automotive Amazon.com: CTEK Multi US 3300 12-Volt Smart Battery Charger: Automotive

Hope this helps other Jaguar Owners.....
