Yeah, he hooked the J hook into the tie rod and not the lower A arm like he should have. I've done it myself but luckily it was on junk that was getting parted out. Hard to see where the hook ends up on a lower car with a big low nose like ours. I'd call some local indy's up and see if they would be interested in the repair. Should be the same tech as the S type and many Fords.

You have to fail at a lot in life to become a tow truck driver in South Florida.
I saw them towing a XJ (from a dealership, so not a repo) where they could not figure out the emergency brake release, so they dragged it with tries screeching and the car put up a hell of a fight.

Its a bit of a procedure, best to learn it before you need to do it. I believe your owners manual has a section on it.

Nope, not on a roll back because with the winch on the deck centerline it'll pull the car off to the side of the deck as it comes up. Once the car is up you restrain the rear and then pull it a little further to lock it down. To the OP, take a look at your rear end to make sure they didn't tweak something else. The rear hook between the muffler and vanity cover is in a bad spot too. Easy to mess something up with th hook or miss it and grab something else that's fragile.

2. Or you could buy a used steering gear from a salvage vehicle hit in the rear.
3. The Jaguar parts catalog does not seem to offer an inner tie rod as a separately replaceable part. Per the diagram below, you can buy the outer tie rod and the boot as separate parts.

Certainly, if the inner tie rod can be replaced; and if the part in post 31 is correct, then no problem.
Notice there are two IF statements above.
However since the Jaguar parts catalog does not list that part, the OP will bear the risk in the event the inner tie rod cannot be replaced or the part number is incorrect.
$100 is a small price to pay to see whether those two IF statements are valid. If the part doesn’t work then the OP will have to pay for a replacement rack, but at least he will have tried, and this will add new knowledge to the group one way or the other.
