214*F is not hot or close to overheating. I believe the Jaguar boiling point is around 250*F which is fairly critical. At that point you would start to be concerned about the head gaskets. The important thing to make sure that it is good is the coolant pressure cap. That is the key to "boiling over" and should be checked yearly and replaced as necessary. My trigger would be around 225*F before I would take any actions and this is considering there aren't any leaks showing. Enjoy the ride

Running the heater will help bring down the coolant temperature, assuming that you haven't lost all the coolant and that the water pump still works.

I shouldn't have to say this, but open the windows so you don't get roasted.

That's
LOL, that’s a trip down memory lane for me... My overbored fiat 1.2 l to 1.8 l would get very close to overheating if I didn’t use the heater in the middle of summer... I modified the car and installed an extra radiator of sorts... an extra metal pipe with an attached heat sink and electric fan on a manual toggle switch on the dash... those were fun days.
This has me thinking... to the left of the steering wheel, at the lower portion of the dash, there is a molded section crying for the substitution of the dummy switch to an actual switch... (the panel where the boot release and fog light switches are) Have any of you added an accessory to this?

This. With a 15 psi Cap and ours use a 14 psi rated. Agree with JT here. If your reach 250 and your hoses or cap hasn't blown, your engine is probably shelling parts. If you can set an alarm on the device, set it @ 225.

Thanks for the confirmation JT. I remember reading that someplace. 214 is the hottest my car has ever gotten and I was having flash fears of bursting one of those stupid plastic hoses in the lane headed up over the Mississippi River.
