Error code deletion - can they be retrieved?
The day after a routine service was performed at a dealership, my air conditioning failed. On investigation, it was found to be the condenser which is likely to need be replaced. I believe the damage could have been caused in the workshop but the dealer cleared all the error codes on and immediately after that date that would have shown when the gas pressure dropped for the first time. Can I ask them to retrieve them from anywhere, so we can be certain exactly when the fault first appeared and prove or rule out the workshop doing the the damage?

I should think it would be painfully obvious if the dealer punctured your condenser. There is not really anything to do around the condenser for a routine service, so not really an opportunity to "slip" and jam a screwdriver through it or something. Reasons to replace it? It leaks. Or it is clogged. Any clogging would probably be from a disintegrating compressor, so I'd expect the diagnosis to be you need a new compressor and "possibly" a condenser or something similar. Yes, the desiccant pouch lets go from time to time, but that is immediately downstream of the condenser and will likely lodge in the txv, clogging it prior to getting round to the condenser.
I suspect you've been unwittingly driving around sans lower condenser mounting bushes, and now probably have a small hole worn in the condenser tube where the serpentine tube makes a U-turn to return to the other side of the condenser. Search the back right side, about 1/3 or so down from the top.
If you have low pressure (23, I believe, but not certain about that) and it has been cleared, yet the cause of the low-pressure has not been corrected, the low-press code will return - I don't recall any date|time tracking in the climate control head to tell you when the code was set. I think it is a snapshot of the particular moment you actuate the key sequence to cause it to read codes. If they are there, it reports them. If not, no.

I think several of us jumped to the conclusion that Sue was talking about a MY95-97 XJ-6 ('94 in the UK) because that's what is served here on this forum. Bob made the key observation, in that a MAKE/MODEL/YEAR would help the fidelity of information/response she gets.
While it is true OBDII Compliance wasn't mandatory for MY95, Jaguar nonetheless proclaimed it implemented on the '95's. Albeit, it is a bit screwy, but from what I can tell, there were no changes/improvements to the OBDII implementation on the 96-97's! It can be shaking so bad at idle it spills your coffee and you still won't get a misfire code.
Sue, I have no idea if the A/C module in the 07 XK has a BIT feature like the X300's; If so, Bob's statement is likely still true - you can probably get the A/C panel codes through PDU or WDS. If it does have a BIT and they cleared the codes, then you can re-run the BIT but it will only show you the codes that are still active - ie. the faults that have not yet been fixed.

Sue,
Thanks to the good detective work of aholbro1, we now know your car is a 2007 XK, so I have moved your thread from the forum of the X300 to the forum for the X150, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your car.
Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.
Cheers,
Don

I suppose it would, but if the poster can't be bothered to supply the basic car info requested, they can't really be than interested in what info members have to offer.
We get a surprising number of drive-by posters that never return despite the warm welcomes and offers of help. 'Nowt more queer as folk' as they say.
