The Series 1 had the 3.8l from '61-64, and the 4.2L from 65-67, and carried on for S1.5 and S2 until 1971. Part way through '71 the V12 was introduced. It was along time ago

Here's a link to more info, and it seems to indicate that over time more of the cars that followed the Series 1, although not accurate, may have been referred to as 1.5's...little confusing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_E-Type

The '66 that I had experience with had the 4.2 motor. Black on black roadster--very stunning.

I just had another thought (memory) of my E Type. Mine was 2 years old when I bought it and was one of the few cars I have ever owned that I sold for more money than I paid for it some 3 years later.
Those were the days.
