Aren't the bronze-colored F-Type paddles made of plastic? The F-Type accessories brochure has optional aluminum paddles, which are probably the same price or more than the Range Rover paddles.
I would assume the large price difference is due to plastic vs. aluminum.

Right, because $.10 worth of aluminum costs $400 more than $.05 worth of plastic…
Of course I was quoted $900 for a the Portfolio shifter surround made of aluminum also, but changing the 7 interior trim parts to engine turn aluminum is only $1000…go figure.
Thanks guys, just ordered the Silver Aluminum paddles! Does anyone know the torx bit size? I need to order a set and want to make sure the correct size is included.
Good choice...they should look and feel great, much better than stock I think.
Mina emailed me back about making the CF paddles and I directed them to this thread. With any hope maybe they will come up with a more affordable solution.
I was looking after updating the paddles to red ones but $500 to 600 for the oem didn't make sense for me...
So a little challenge could be fun
I bought a set of used padles, careful painted them, and here it is
They really pop and do add some finesse to the classy interior, but it could be only me so make your own decision
Your 2008 XK's interior is classic British style, with all the leather and burl wood. Your car is rare because it has Adaptive Cruise Control. But the red paddles just aren't my style.
My aftermarket paddle extensions attach to the OEM paddles and follow the curvature of the steering wheel.
