@Barry Shellis Welcome to the Forum! I see that you just joined. You'll find a lot of knowledgeable and helpful members here. But you need to help us to help you. Please create a proper ID that includes your location and a signature that includes the year and model of your X150, as detailed in this thread:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...-up%2A-241802/

I opened your Public Profile and found that you're in GB. It would be helpful to know where, as owners near you might be able to help.

Occasionally, you might be able to find parts you need on the Forum Marketplace, and you can place "Parts Wanted" ads there for free. You can also check with Forum sponsors that sell used parts and other breakers ("junkyards" on my side of The Pond), and eBay. Used parts that are no longer being manufactured or available as Ford parts can be expensive. XKR back boxes are not all the same.

You probably are not aware that JLR now offers parts for classics. Here's the link. You can search for exhaust parts.
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/

Unfortunately, there's nothing available now. Even if that back box was available, it would cost you "silly money".

It's a Jaguar, not a Mini.

Cheers!

Stuart

If you don't want to pay stupid money, you'll need to be patient and/or lucky. I was weighing different muffler options, and was checking the usual sites with frequency. I happened to luck into an XKR back box in Fleabay almost as soon as it was posted. The seller was asking $225, so I jumped on it. So unless you're in a big hurry, just be patient and keep searching. One will turn up eventually.
Here's my $225 score:

I have been thinking of doing the same thing to my 2007 XK. Does it sound much different?

Oh yeah. The harder you put your foot down, the wider your smile.

Did the same mode as well couple of weeks ago on my 2007 XK. I managed to find a used XKR backbox and I paid 500$ for it (just for reference). Best money ever spent! You can try to call local Jag salvage yards. Maybe they have an XKR laying around.

Only remaining thing to do on my XK is to replace the small muffler in the middle of the exhaust system with an X pipe.

^^ Sounds great. Subtle rumble when normal cruising, louder muscle car growl when you put your foot in it. Never any drone at any rpm. I locked the outside exhaust (the pipe with the vacuum valve) in the open position so there's always some exhaust note.

Hi

I have one listed on the marketplace right now. I priced it according to what was available at the time on eBay. Feel free to make me an offer, or to request more photos.

It says $ but it's £ (I didn't see a way to change it)

I have a 2007 XK convertible that I pulled fuse 19 to get a better exhaust note out of, so I was just wondering if the XKR would be that much different.

Fuse 19 does nothing on an XK. The exhaust valves are passive, and controlled only by exhaust pressure. The XKR utilizes the fuse 19 circuit to control the vacuum pump that activates the ‘active’ exhaust valves (there’s a table that shows the conditions to close the valves), as the valves are normally ‘open’.
