Exhaust Tips Discoloring

My 2012 XKR-S suffers from discolored exhaust tips on the outer pipe on both sides. I have gone to the dealer who said this is common on all XKR/XKR-S cars. Having previously owned BMW M and Mercedes AMG vehicles with quad tail pipes that never suffered from this malady, I wonder if anyone else is having this problem. I expected a Jaguar to have the same quality as those other brands.
Metal polish has been tried as a remedy without results. The tips have a gold tinge to them.....much like what is seen on a chromed motorcycle header pipe, which I believe is caused by heat.
Is this just something I need to live with? Or has someone has success with this issue? Or, am I the only one with a problem!

Ok guys, I'm not lucky enough to own a fantastic vehicle like yourselves, but surely this is detailing related?
This is mine below on my A6 and they look almost as good as when they left the factory, with now approaching 110k miles on her

I ALWAYS include them in my wash routine and generally just use soap and water.
As stated, perhaps some Autosol or other similar metal polish will bring them back?
Good luck

Interesting Post......
My 2009 Jaguar XKR with 14,850 miles shows NO signs of discoloration on the quad tailpipes...........
however..........
My 2014 Porsche Cayman 981 with just 781 miles shows minor discoloration around the edges of the single tailpipe.
I believe this may be due to the heat from the exhaust and a difference in the type of metal used on the tailpipe.
The Jaguar pipes on the XKR are a very nice chrome, which the Porsche is NOT chrome, but more of a brushed type finish.
In this case or issue, the Jaguar out performs the Porsche for tailpipe discoloration.
The photo of the Porsche tailpipe below was taken at only 150 miles, now it is beginning to show some discoloration.

As I stated earlier, I have never had this problem with either my BMW M Coupe (regrettably sold after 80,000 miles...biggest mistake ever!) nor my last Mercedes AMG (sold with 76,000 miles).
Thanks for all the responses.

The outside pipes are the ones use on the dinamic mode. You probably always use it?

I suppect some over heating and more fumes. The center pipes stay clean because they're never in fonction maybe?

Unfortunately the 'tips' are not detachable as they are a part of the one piece muffler/tailpipe assembly. I can see Jaguar USA's hesitancy to replace the entire assembly as they want to sell it for about $4,000!

I'll try your suggestion (on the underside of the pipe nearest the front so that it will not be noticeable if I goof it up), but I think from looking at your photo that the tailpipe material may be different on our two vehicles.

Back in the day, exhaust tips were electroplated with chrome. Because that process is harmful to the environment, it is being phased out. Most "chrome" wheels today are PVD. I suspect your exhaust tips are polished stainless steel, which is harder and more durable than PVD. If so, they should clean up well with 0000 steel wool, as mentioned above, and a good metal polish such as Brasso.
