Default Facelift XKR vs Dynamic R

Just wondering if anyone has owned a 2012-14 XKR (or perhaps a 2009-11 5.0) and a Dynamic R and wondered if they felt the difference between the models was worth the premium?
As far as I can tell you are getting the speed pack, and the suspension from the XKR-S, but no extra power. How did people find the ride/handling difference?
I currently have a very good but not quite concours 2012 XKR with 49000 miles and can't stop looking at dynamic r models for sale online.

If you have SDD it is fairly easy to get the tune from the R-S for free.
I have no further information on the other matters.

Only differences are cosmetic for the most part. The XKR-S however's a completely different animal...

Who was the member in here using used/salvage GT parts to make a Junkyard -GT? That was a couple years ago and my mind is getting cloudier each year. Many different GT specific parts on those puppies. I'm sure the -S has a bunch its own self.

I have a 2014 XK Dynamic R with a sports exhaust & it's worth every penny for that noise alone, also it looks the absolute dogs bollocks

I previously owned a 2007 XKR 4.2 & it's noticeably faster & the suspension is a little stiffer but not uncomfortably so.

If you're going to make a change from an XKR, it has to be the XKR-S! Don't waste the effort on the Dynamic R.

I have owned 3 XKR's. First was a new 2011 XKR 175, secondly, a new 2013 XKR w/dynamic pack, and thirdly, a 2014 XKR dynamic R, convertible.

The reason I sold the 175 was because I wanted a newer 12-15 design with the dynamic pack. The 175 is simply a XKR with a speed pack body kit. The dynamic pack includes everything the XKR-S has except for the engine tune and specific body kit. The reason I sold the 2013 XKR was because I wanted a convertible with the performance seats. The dynamic-R is everything an XKR-S, including same suspension and dynamic tune, except for the engine tune.

There is a difference in performance from the regular XKR and a dynamic version, but it is subtle yet noticeable.

That's one good looking XKR. Love the color combination.

Not sure that would be taken as a compliment on this side of the pond . Been looking for that color combo here in the US for quite awhile, never seems to come on the market. Congrats on having yours.

True enough. It is a different beast. My drive with it though highlighted what I like about the GT aspects of the XKR. I think they nailed it. Mind you, I've never done a road trip on the XKR-S. The power is fun but her handling seems too taunt for the long long drive for me. I need someone to pipe up that doesn't use it strictly as a hairdresser's car, city rocket or a dragster.

The dynamic-R XKR looks everybit as good as an XKR-S, imo, and has all the performance goodies of the XKR-S except for the engine tune which he can simply add.

I'd actually prefer a 2012+ with all the -S goodies and NOT that fish-face front.

But it's not an XKR-S. The R-S models are the most collectable, the XKR-S has a special place in Jaguar's history that means something in the long run.
If XKR-S is out of the picture for one reason or another, then yes; the Dynamic-R XKR is next in line.

On Autotrader dot com right now, there are only 69 XKs available in the US market and only 18 of those are /R models. Two /R-S cars are listed, and one listed as an /R-S but it looks like a GT. Dunno if a real one, but the asking price is $160k. The -Ss are $48k and $60k for a '12 and a '15.

Ah, I went only 2012 and newer. There may be an older one! I went more in line with the /R-S years.
