Factory Warranty Transfer

Did you buy this from a Jaguar dealer. If so they should handle the transfer info. If not you might want to go to a dealer and have them go through the process.

I ironically have the exact car with the exact mileage on it, you do not have to do anything other than update your personal info with a Jag dealer and that will update it throughout the dealer network. I absolutely love my car and have done some nice simple mods but kept all original parts. Feel free to private email me to discuss. One big one is color sanding the paint. The paint color will be dramatically different in a great way!!!
It didn't take long to get my first speeding ticket!!!!!
Enjoy it !!!!

I think the warranty is recorded by VIN and travels with the car.
I missed my 175 so much I had to replace it with a new 2013. It never failed to put a smile on my face and I got it back with the 2013 XKR w/dynamic pack and performance exhaust.
What is color sanding? Is it the same is paint correction?

Jagtoes,
That is a very well written article as it is a VERY tedious and dirty project. Patience is a must and spending 5-10 hours on a single side of a car from start to finish is normal. The best part is the repeated contortionist positions you have to be in order to work around these beautifully shaped cars. I have just completed my 175 and it looks like a piece of glass and at a recent cars and coffee event everyone walked right past the "Supercars" to just stop and admire mine and make comments such as best looking Jag I have ever seen. I have always utilized polishing as my stress reliever and my chance to think out work challenges etc. Most of my friends will drink etc. but this has always worked for me. If it is 2 in the morning and the buffer is running in the garage, my wife knows I am thinking through a business challenge. I have solved a lot of the worlds problems with polishing ha ha .

It doesn't sound like you got the CPO warranty , is that so? I got my 2012 a year ago with 6K miles on it and made sure the dealer provided the CPO warranty.

You must have a CPO warranty from a previous owner to have warranty to June 2016. Your original warranty would have expired by now. I believe the original factory warranty is 4 years. Your free 4 year maintenance on the 175, as was my previous 175, should have expired by now.
I think the 2011's had a 5 year warranty vs the 4 given to 2012 and 2013 XK's.... no quite sure though on the specifics but pretty sure they had 5 yrs and that has returned PLUS 10,000 miles on F-Types for 2016.

Factory warranty begins on the car's "in service" date. For 2011 MY, Jaguar added "Jaguar Platinum Coverage," which extended the factory warranty to 5 years. It could also have "Select Edition" which goes for 6 years, but only a Jag dealer can certify cars for that. If owner #1 traded it at a Jaguar dealership, that dealer may have certified it at that point. If so, the warranty remains with the car.

I purchased my 2008 on consignment through a Jag Dealer. The previous owner had a "Jaguar Extra Mile" service contract on the vehicle for 96 mo. or 100,000 miles. After consulting with Jaguar, it turns out the warranty was not transferable because I did not buy it directly from the previous owner.
Under conditions of transfer it says:
"You may not transfer this VSC to a vehicle dealer or to the customer of a vehicle dealer."

2011: 5 Year Factory Warrenty and Platinum Service
You are correct, 2011's were 5 Year Factory Warranties including the Platinum Coverage Service Program - rich. Also Jaguar reintroduced the 5 year 50,000 mile Platinum Coverage in 2016.
My 2011 XKR Black Pack warranty expires on 11/15/2016. When purchased the car 2 years ago - it included the dealer 6 year CPO dealer warranty (would just extend the car for one more year through 11/15/2017). However the CPO purchased warranty is not as strong as the Factory Warranty.
Love the car so much, like new with 25,000 miles, I want to keep it for 3 more + years. I have to decide by 11/15/2016 if I want to purchase a Jaguar Manufacture Extended warranty. I am told it may cost between $3,500 - $5,000 and make sure to shop around. Feeling it would be worth extending the Jaguar Factory Warranty if I plan to keep it.

As others have noted, the factory warranty will just carry over to you. On my first visit to a dealer with my 2011 last year, I got the brakes done, oil change, filters and wiper blades... all covered.
If you are considering getting an extended warranty, you need to do it 60 days or 1000 miles before the factory warranty expires, or the price will increase drastically. I got a 4year/25k extended for $2800 from the dealer for my base XK. The dealer extended warranty is also transferable if sold to an individual, but it requires a transfer process including a notarized transfer form for the warranty company.

Thanks Sean U - good information. I spoke to my dealer today and they will actually credit me on remaining 7 months existing warranty still left on my vehicle toward a new extended factory warranty. Keep you on the prices he quotes me and plan to shop around other dealers for sure. Yes, since I am keeping the car, being the XKR Supercharge, I want to keep it factory warrantied.
