Fan Blows on Start Up

Fan Blows on Start Up
Gentlemen,
I would appreciate any point in the right direction on this. When I start my car the fan comes on at full blast. It is hot air (outside temp is now 40° + -) but settles in to the temp on the dial after a while.
Other than going in to Climate and selecting AC OFF is there any way to stop the fan from blowing on start up? I usually have AUTO selected as that is what the manual suggests.
Thanks

When I started mine this morning, the HVAC was blowing warm air, fan was not on high but the air coming out of the dash wash warm. The outside temp was 82 and the system was set on 72 so I was expecting cold air. I turned the A/C off and back on, it worked fine the rest of the day. I vaguely recall this happening once or twice in the seven years I've owned the car and reset by turning the A/C off then on.
