Awesome! I was born on NAS Pensacola and have lived all over the state, incl. Hudson, St. Pete, Ft Myers, New Smyrna Bch and Miami... Went to Gulf Breeze HS and U of Miami. Unfortunately, shortly after getting married to my foreign-born wife of (as of tomorrow 36 years), we moved to Miami and lived there for 10 years before she had had enough of the heat and we ended-up on the west coast. We'll probably have a winter home in FL, but she won't live there year round. She's pining away for a big city (she's from Seoul, Korea) but with the current state of affairs, she's been rethinking that.

We're definitely downsizing though. Hence, the car change... We can only have 2 vehicles and if we're in a condo, I'm not going to be able to spend all weekend fussing with my car anyway, so the move to an easy to maintain and service Mustang. I've had some incredible cars, wife would say too many (and my 20-year-old son is on his 6th) (though to be fair, I took 2 away from him for just causes), but I'm trying to grow out of the car obsession... Anyway, enjoy life in Tampa, great place!

Cool, we have run around a lot of the same spots for sure. My early years were in the shadow of the old Bronson Field up by the Blue Angels park in Pensacola. After they decommissioned that field there were some officers housing on the north side of 98 on Perdido Bay that were repurposed into civilian housing. We lived there up until I was in the 5th grade. Idyllic country place for sure, picking berries for pie, catching shrimp in the bay at night with the seine net, or crab that Mom would make crab cakes. Not to mention us neighborhood kids would go crazy in the old field, was just a massive woods with a ton of cool trails. Good times, with 3 older brothers I was afforded a ton of experiences as I tagged along with them on many adventures that would have been off limits at my age.

Enjoy that ride, if you can afford to switch cars every couple of years I say don't stop now!

@SEAICE Are you ceramic coating the car? You sound like the ideal owner for it.

Congrats on the retirement and the Mustang. I rented a '21 convert for a 400 mile trip from So Cal, an amazing car. Quality and design of the interior has improved over the years steadily. The '21 has so much more power than my '96, and truthfully I wouldn't drive it any faster after the novelty wore off. I would have just kept the XK and added the Mustang, but I'm a multi vehicle kind of guy, must be why my neighbors hate me!

mosesbotbol, Yes, after I buff her another time over. I never did the XK as it was never in the weather and I had layers of glaze and carnuba on her.

Rivguy... Wish I were Jay Leno, but one secret to being married for 36 years (and together for 38) is to let the wife have her way in some things and her tolerance for me is one car and sometimes, a motorcycle or boat!

I understand liking the car a lot. I get it. I don't understand getting rid of it because you like it too much. What do you think the next owner going to do with your car? XK isn't a number-matching 70s Porsche, it won't be sitting in a collection in a climate-controlled garage.

Keep it. Drive it. Get rid of a Mustang, it just a red appliance.

A lot of folks like me I think, that will keep the car as a weekend driver, but not necessarily as an investment. I can't do that (investment car) the need for something else it too strong and the wife won't let me spend the $$ on a car worth investing in

On another note, it's our 36th anniversay today and I can't help but show off a larger pic of my 57 year old wife in the Jag. I was waiting on some BBQ and she, and the car looked so awesome!:

Great choice! Red Mustang 5.0 GT Convertible! I have one of those! An older one, but still.

Excellent choice and all the best in your looming retirement. I have a 65 Mustang CVT, that satisfies my other car urges.
