Default Finding XKR sports seats very uncomfortable

I recently picked up a 2014 XK Dynamic R, fitted with the sports seats (as I think all Dynamic R's have?) and am really struggling to get comfortable! A real shame as they look fantastic and definitely add to the experience when driving spiritedly. I find that my lower back starts to ache after a few miles, particularly if wearing a belt - the belt loops on my jeans seem to snag on the central leather 'spine' of the seat face.

Anyhoo - I am half thinking of picking up some regular XKR seats and swapping them over. Has anyone attempted this? I've read a few accounts of folks doing the opposite; i.e. 'upgrading' to the sports seats. I guess there are seat control differences and airbags to think about etc. My other thought is to see whether a seat upholsterer might be able to modify the seat.

It's a real shame, I just didn't notice the issue on a fairly lengthy test drive, nor on the 4 hour drive home. I also have an X100 XJR and those seats are heaven to sit in by comparison!

Thanks in anticipation for any comments or suggestions.

Are you in shape or just shaped? What happens is that sport seats are great for sporty people with no belly and a strong core. If you want to strengthen your core, plank for 30secs a day and within a week you should be in better shape than before. Often its not the seats, its the condition of the driver.

An interesting angle there! I’m around 11 stones and 5 foot 8, so average ish I guess for someone in their mid-50’s. It’s maybe that what I think I want and what I actually want are different things!

The swap can be done, but would be vastly less costly to perhaps find a suitable small cushion for lumbar support.

Does the seat not have a lumbar support adjustment? I find that this is the crucial thing to alleviate lower back discomfort.

Great on short trips & spirited driving however as a gt not so great .....how about a little cushion/pillow to help ...or as you stated putting xkr seats in (when I had these seats I could go on long journeys and it'd be fine )

Brewtech I'm 215lb and anything longer then 2-3hr is tough on the glutes ...the old seats super comfy ...however I'd never go back ))

Did the opposite way.

Seat modules are the same.
Actually potentially minor repin of harness needed to make luxury seats fully working (for heated/cooled seats, adjusting/airbag etc works without any work).

I have a spare set of luxury seats (with blower for cooled seats) in case you really want to swap. Happy to exchange

The standard seats are quite ordinary, generic off the shelf, the sports better suit all years of the X150...
