I can definitely say my exhaust is louder but sounds much meaner then before. Its taken me the weekend to get used to it but I like it. I don't have any resonation but I do have a really annoying "whistle" under hard acceleration.

It could be either one, but I'm leaning towards a leak as I haven't heard anyone else mention a whistle. They didn't have time for the pulley and tune so i have to take it back in tomorrow so I'll have them look over it to make sure there are no leaks.

Or I wonder if it is this listed below.. If so how do you turn it off?

"In addition to the fully active exhaust system in which valves open to provide a more rewarding note, the new XKR has been engineered to provide an intake feedback system to enhance the V8 sound character commonly absent on supercharged engines. Intake manifold pressure pulsations are fed into an acoustic filter at the rear of the engine that is tuned to provide an edgy sports car 'crescendo' at high revs. The filter is controlled by the engine management system, which only allows the sound to enter the cabin under the appropriate driving conditions."

I can't see a fuse for it; you could disconnect the feedback pipe from the symposer (an acoustic mixing unit) in the inlet manifold to the resonator on the bulkhead, though I don't know if that would mess with the induction system. But I can't see how changing the exhaust would cause the induction system to start whistling.

Thank you for the feedback, I may take it off temporarily to see if it helps, but I personally think its an exhaust leak. I'll have the shop look at it tomorrow while the pulley and tune are being completed.

Ok so I decided to try out and out the stock center piece back in with two resonators. Hoping it would kill the drone a bit but not take away the sound at wot.. Interesting predicament I am I right now because first impression was ok it's still loud but it is definitely less than before at 2300 rpm as I can tell less things in the car are vibrating lol... Here's a question is it possible it is actually louder at wide open throttle than before? It's hard to tell as it still sounds great but different. It doesn't overrun crackle as much but does shoot odd backfires when reving hard in park. I'm gonna try and take a vid to see if playing them one after the other helps me as I'm not sure what I like better. This might be a stupid question but the second resonator won't lose power or less throttle response would it?

For other great sounding exhausts, see this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...guar-xk-70169/ ... and my post #13.

That sounds perfect, I may go to the stock resonators in the middle as well. I'd like for it to be a little quieter inside then it is now.

R_Rated - (please correct me if I'm wrong Chromey) but he still has the Quicksilver rear muffler

I gather from what he wrote that it is Quicksilver; but the Quicksilver axleback section is nothing more than straight pipes[no muffler]. He has no performance or sound difference whatsoever as this: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-delete-95525/

It's not a bad thing but it is confirming that I need to get straight pipes to replace the rear muffler made for a couple hundred bucks instead of spending thousands on a name brand exhaust

Sorry I got confused there as I was thinking about my exhaust that has a rear muffler but no resonators. Too much modding on the brain at the moment

Yes I took out the mid section from quicksilver which had there resonator and put the stock one with two resonators in much like the sport version... It's the quicksilver back section which I guess is just straight pipes. Now driving it around all yesterday it is better in the cabin. It's missing a little of the deeper tone but I can't really tell. As it turns out I think it is a perfect set up... I don't know to. Inch but I think you are correct in saying R Rated a shop could do what quicksilver charges a lot for but I'm not sure what's involved in the R & D to build these things to proper specs. All I know is I couldn't go back to stock without feeling depressed lol

In theory, you should be able to sell your straight pipes to another member, one who wishes to leave the stock back box, but would gain the deeper note by getting rid of the resonators ... Well just a thought...

Nice sound - unfortunately, I'd get lynched by my neighbours (small street, terrace of houses one side, brick wall the other)
