id have that looked at and my guess is timing chain and/or VVT making the noise. The engine would need to be dropped to fix it which sucks (3 times on my 12 xkr).

Snide72- thank you, that's very generous. And likewise- if you ever find yourself in Utah, let me know.

Lothar52- No Sir. I'm headed to the airport now to pick one up in Oregon. But I appreciate the offer!

Got the car back safe and sound! The seller said something to the effect of expecting questions or a conversation almost every time you stop and sure enough, every time I stopped for gas or food, it was either questions or compliments. After a couple hundred miles of familiarization, I began to explore the envelope a bit while leaving it in D and no Dynamic but using the paddles, and I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said and that you guys don't already know, but just... wow. What a hell of a car. I'm looking forward to carefully exploring Sport and Dynamic in due time.

One question- how can I get audio from my Android phone to the car's stereo? The seller said that the car won't stream audio over bluetooth, and that USB port is only for thumb drives and won't pull audio from (or charge) a phone.

It's definitely not as raucous as Cee Jay's, so I went looking for F19 only to find it was already pulled. Time for an x pipe, I guess.

And so it begins...

Right on. Have fun. As far as streaming audio, I have this device and it works great with our Samsung s5 and an iPhone 6:

Spooky.

Never been to Columbus Ohio in my life, after this thread, I was there this weekend- and will be there next weekend. How bizarre.

Sorry guys... I've been too busy enjoying it to take pictures. Now that I've been on familiar roads, I've been playing with Dynamic and Sport a bit and I have to admit... ZF and Jaguar sure did a good job making me forget about a 3rd pedal. I intend to spend another month acclimating and then to attend a few autocross so that I can explore turning all traction aids off, and then to do a few track days at Utah Motorsports Campus before the season ends.

Here's a shot I took shortly before entering Nevada on my drive home. I promise there will be more pictures... if I can pry my butt out of the drivers seat.

Mandrake,
I'm honestly sorry I didn't ****** this car up when I had the chance. I love the color, and it would have made such a nice matching bookend to my convertible. For the price, you must be wondering how it's possible to get so much car (enjoyment) for the price of a 5 year old Camry.

(since this is morphed into a jovial thread)
Cee Jay,
I was on that island in Salt Lake 3 months ago, I wished I had been in an XKR, the drive at sunset when the rangers had gone home reminded me of back home. What a thrill around the curves and rolling hills. Especially with the sheep (proghorns? sp?) jumping out like it was a video game. They would call that a leisure center back home. Did you guys put them on that island?

Antelope Island. About five miles from my house. Why didn't you stop by?
They keep mostly Bison out there and have a big Round-Up every fall for the folks to marvel at. To me, they are a forlorn and ragged bunch of creatures, but I guess it's better than them being in a Beefalo Ranch.
Prong Horn antelope. Yep, some of those out there also. I seriously don't know if they all got trapped out on Antelope Island or were herded/loaded.
The Big Horns in the higher cliffy areas and more likely to be seen carving the higher canyons.
There are some GREAT roads around here to stretch legs on our cars. Some are a bit dangerous even, up against cliff walls and drop-offs and such, but there has been a steady increase of traffic over the years so it's not a fabulous is it was when I arrived (against my will) in 1991 (Air Force).
I keep waiting for Mandrake to invite me for a chase through the mountains, but he doesn't.

Tberg- thank you again for passing on it. While these type of deals do come along from time to time, they're few and far between. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to afford a toy like this and still be young enough to enjoy it- the gentleman that sold it is 75 and it just wasn't the right car for him any more. When I said that it was the car I'd been waiting my whole life for, he said, "me too." That stuck with me on the drive home...

Cee Jay- 10am tomorrow at the Huntsville Chevron for a few laps on Monte.

He nailed it. Its a car I have been waiting all my life for too. And the best way to describe it.

No other car in the world means more to me, and I have others worth more.
It's all about what delusion you have in your head.
If you fell in love with what Jaguar stood for, its DNA, if you remember what the E-type meant and the emotions surrounding it, if you remember how you wish few things were different and could really be improved upon....this car delivers that dream in buckets and my cup runneth over.

I also understand and respect that others have a somewhat similar delusion that Germans are the epitome of engineering, won the war and Ford invented luxury.

Cee Jay, Mandrake,

You live in a beautiful part of the world- just know that there is no more than this.

Where I live, XKs are dime a dozen, I see 2 everyday, even raced an identical one who happened to be alongside me. We have an event similar to the Kentucky Derby and my wife and I decide to skip it after getting all dressed up, because parking was a hassle..there was a small park nearby with winding roads so we just decided to go for a drive..as we turn in the car behind us is a red xkr. We are the only 2 cars in the park or even in the area because every other couple is at that derby...after driving around a bit enjoying the view of each others cars, I thought it best to pull over and say hi to this couple who obviously had a few things in common with us as they too had decided to go off the beaten path. When I did would you believe they went right past and even looked at us.

Will have to hang with you guys.
