Checked the manual, did a forum search and googled

My handbook advises it is fuse no F33 in passenger footwell fuse box of my UK car.

But I suspect that my manual (JJM 10 02 30 141) like the last one incorrectly supplied by my main dealer, has the fuse locations reversed and the fuse is actually in behind the centre section of the rear seats. Also if it is there, any guidance on removal of that centre panel, ask as everything I've read indicates you slide you digits into the top bit and give it a sharp tug, I've tried and nothing's giving...but that just be my arthritic hands can't exert the required force

Needed as really only have done short journeys in my car since purchase in Oct and am taking it in for a Terraclean service at 48k miles (as well as the DI clean). Don't want to get into the 'snake oil' debate as appreciate it's a very emotive subject, but have never had a problem with cars I've had this done to, and it's reduced my emissions quite a bit (read as reducing by 60%+) and freed up a few horses. They have to disconnect the fuel pump when they run the car on their fuel solution, if it's not disconnected then (IIRC) it can seize due to not being lubricated by fuel.

Could go out with a torch but it's coming up on 1am here in the UK.

Do you have any plastic trim removal tools? If so, wedge a large one (or two) in between the leather at the top of that rear center seat section to give you a bit more leverage while pulling that center section towards you. It should pop right out. Good luck!

No, all I said was how to remove that panel.

 

Okay, I have the center section of the seat bottom removed, but cannot remove the center section of the seat back to access to fuel pump fuse. It will not slide upward or downward, and pulling directly forward with some strength does not budge it. I'm afraid of using too much force and breaking something. What's the easy way to get to the fuse box?

 

Push in slightly and push up simultaneously.
It just hangs on.

 

Man, the back seat area is tight to clamber around in, but I figured this out. At the top of the center seat-back piece, use a plastic wedge to pry the top lip forward enough to slip your finger in. Once you have sufficient grip, tug the top lip forward about an inch to get a plastic fastener pin to release. Then slide the whole seat back piece upward about an inch to unclip it from a metal rail at the top and bottom then lift it away. I'll follow-up with some photos.

 

Strange, my car seems to start up and idle just fun with Fuse 33 removed. I'm referring to the "Rear Seat compartment" fuse location diagram found at jaghelp.com: Jaguar XK Fuse location and ID

Can anyone confirm the fuel pump fuse number and location for a 2010 XK 5.0?

Center seat back piece ‘hangs’ from horizontal metal rods behind the top and bottom of the seat back cushions. The top-center trim clip must be released before the whole panel can slide vertically, unhooking from the rods.

 

The "Rear seat compartment" you're referring to is technically referred to as the Auxiliary Junction Box and fuse F33 is to the fuel pump module.

 

I finally got the car to stall out and not restart after removing the fuel filter cap and letting the tank vent. Somehow there had been enough residual pressure in the system to run for several minutes at idle and under throttle--even with the fuse removed!

 

Traction, why are you doing all this? didnt you just get new fuel injectors?

 

I had one bank of injectors professionally replaced in February but the other bank failed about two weeks ago (the third time this car has left me stranded in the past 12 months, grr). I purchased replacement injectors right away but due to some work and family commitments I'm finally installing them now.

 

Try to get the old ones cleaned to have as spares.

Not a problem as a shop can clean them up as long as there is no physical damage to the units. They should look and perform like new.

 

Tractioninc, can you provide any details on removing/replacing the injectors? For example, did you use the Jaguar recommended tools for the injector removal and the sizing tool for the Teflon seals?

 

I'll post an overview with photos to the Removal of fuel rail X150 thread. I'll mention that the whole procedure wasn't that much harder than replacing the spark plugs would be. I used a generic version of the Jaguar injector removal tool (a slide hammer); the new injectors came with seals installed so a sizing tool wasn't needed.

Removing the fuel rail itself was a PITA--after removing the bolts I pulled and pried it to no avail. Finally I crafted a makeshift slide hammer using with a heavy hammer and a loop of tow strap that I had hooked to one end of the rail. Swinging the hammer dislodged one end of the rail very easily, then the I was able to use the same technique to remove the other end of the rail. Use that technique first and you can do in seconds what cost me hours of frustration and scouring the internet.
