Default Gear Oil replaced

Replace rear end gear oil the other day. Really low and no leaks detected. Only purged about 16 oz. of old gear oil and installed 1.25 liters of Valvoline 75-140 limited slip. It was pretty easy. I used a hand purge to remove old oil and with a 3' piece of 3/8s tubing was able to refill from outside by the rear wheel. Worked great. I have done this several times onZ28 and GTO.

Curious why you didn't use Ford 75w-140? About the same price and spec'd for our cars. Didn't really need the limited slip type since the 07-09 has a craptastic open diff.

Thats enough for me! No leaks and low is pretty sad. I've been wanting to get to that... But I will be using synthetic. Out of interest how many miles on your car?

I missed about using the ford gear oil. The auto parts store looked up what type and it said GL5. I was not sure if it was limited slip and read somewhere it was ok to use limited slip. Seems to work fine and no problems.

The Valvoline I used was full synthetic.
