Getting Closer..
Well, our house is now active in the MLS, we just purchased a new 2022 Subaru Outback, and sold our 2014 Subara Outback to our daughter. I have my old Ford Ranger truck with plans to refurbish it as needed over the next 1 - 3 years. We just signed a 12-month rental lease in a small house located in a very nice community. Once the house sells we will pay down debt and step back to regroup financially, mentally, and physically & decide our next steps for retirement in the next 12 - 24 months. So, since the "required" retirement vehicle needs are taken care of, and debt is soon to be also, purchasing a 2007 - 2015 X150 is closer to becoming a reality.
I was asked just 2 days ago by a dealer I made contact with 1 year ago if we were ready and I still told him no because there were three exceptions to what I want. So, I am second guessing myself as the car was close to what I want, 2010 - 2015 white with polished wheels X150 XKR for approximately $25k. The dealer's car that I was asked about is a 2012 white with polished wheels with 46,000 miles...but the three exceptions are:
1) $11,000 more than what I wanted to consider: $36,000
2) not an XKR but a base XK
3) house is not yet sold and the net $s to us are still unknown
But....such a nice car......so tempted...I am second guessing my decision but so far I have stuck to my guns....

If you want an XKR, wait for an XKR. If you buy an XK and then test drive an XKR you will be very mad at yourself for the XK purchase. Seriously.
Also, you state you want a 2010 or newer, but maybe consider starting at 2012, the updated face is much more current, and if you need a backup camera, it is standard in the 2012 or newer. Only problem is Sticky Buttons, but they can be rectified quickly with some sort of goop.

I wouldn't worry about whether it's an XK or and XKR unless you intend to take it on a track and are a good enough driver to make use of the extra power etc.
On the road, your driving skill will vastly outweigh the car you drive. A good driver in an XK will be so far ahead of an average driver in an XKR that they might as well be on different planets and, on the road, both of them will be on a different planet to a good rider on a decent motorbike.
On the track, everything is different! 😉

First X150 I test drove was a 2007 XKR convertible, I was hooked, but the car had been mistreated so I wanted a different one. Searched nationwide and could only find an XK identically equipped as that XKR, so I bought it.
While I love the car, it’s not an XKR and my grin while driving is not as wide.
Keeping my eye open for a 2015 in a specific color combo, might as well get the latest example of a car I’ll keep forever.

I just bought a 2009 XK. I have been looking for a 2010 to 2015 XKR for about 2 years, but they are 10-15k more now than before the pandemic. The XK is a much better car than my current 1997 XK8, so it’s not much of a sacrifice to drive it until I find a R. You should wait for what you want. They will come down in price.

To each, their own. What is it you crave?
One comment above is true…. an XKR is very different from and XK.
But she’s not a track car…. she’s a ‘G’rand ‘T’ourer. And taunt and gutsy at that.
If it’s the looks you want, an XK may do. If its driving down the winding road, perhaps the XKR.
Either way, its 2022. And caring for an 10+ year old vehicle requires a heightened level of care, attention, money and time.
And an xkr needs more than the xk.
Cheers.
