Actually, I did not hook up a power source, and I only lost a few of my presets (mostly radio stations). Everything else maintained their settings...

I had left my fob in the car for a few days while it was in my shop. After starting I got the Cruise Control Unavailable light in the dash. I didn't think a thing about the fob draining the battery down at the time. But it had drained it down just enough to cause this little gremlin to appear. Hasn't happened since I remembered to take the smart key out.

Question is: do all of you have the dealer replace the battery or do you do it yourself. If you do it yourself, which one did you buy. Are all Jag sized batteries non maintenance free. I haven't needed to add water to a battery in years, do I need to do so now?
I think you will find all XK Coupe (cant speak for the convertible) batteries will be maintenance free. You should not have a battery inside a passenger compartment (which is technically where the coupes battery is) due to the gasses released while charging. Maintenance free battery's are supposedly sealed, and all venting is done through an attached hose to the exterior of the car.
