Default Has Maserati given up on the Alfieri

Back in 2014, Maserati showcased its beautiful Alfieri concept coupe at the Los Angeles car show. It was clearly the best looking, most interesting vehicle at the whole show. At the Maserati booth, it was claimed that the car would be available for the 2017 model year at under $100,000. In all of the 2017 preview car magazines and at the current L.A. Car show, the Alfieri has disappeared. What a shame, it would have been a worthy competitor to the F-type, might have filled a niche left by Jaguar's elimination of the XK/XKR, and certainly would have hurt Aston Martin sales across the board. Anybody know what happened?

Yes i remember seeing this vehicle online ...absolute beauty !!

Rival to the f type yes but in terms of replacing the niche market of the xkr i think not i could be wrong but i thought it was only a two seater not 2+2

Your absolutely correct tberg this is a 2+2 and could quite easily fill the void left by the xkr.

They are saying production has been pushed back to atleast 2020 with the realease of 3 different levels of power on their v6 tt engines, the v8 will be launched in 2021.

Power configurations are to be offered in the following

2020 - v6 tt 410hp rwd
- v6 tt 450hp awd
- v6 tt 520 hp awd

2021 - v8 (4.7?) 560hp ??

It is coming....Production early to mid 2017...sales expected in the fall of 2017.

2017 Maserati Alfieri Price, Release date, Interior, Specs

Hope this helps.

The car was stunning in person. And if it's pushed back until 2020 or 2021 it will already have been made irrelevant. To introduce a concept that was scheduled to go into production, create the excitement, and then wait 6 or 7 years to bring a mediocre powered car (compared to its competition) to market really means it will never be produced. Maserati is doing what Porsche and now Jaguar and even Bentley have realized, that SUVs and smaller sedans will increase market share, sales, and profitability far more quickly than sports cars and GTs. It's a shame.

Richzak,
I hope you're right, but it's not listed in the roster of upcoming models for Maserati, and you'd think they'd have had it shown with their other new models (like the SUV) at the L.A. Car Show, one of the most influential shows in the world (and where the concept was premiered along with the F-type). Let's wait and see.

The attached article written just 3 weeks ago, seems to suggest a 2020 release date, but I'm doubtful.

I took a look at the Maserati forum site to see what they were saying, and it was not too optimistic about the Alfieri's prospects at ever making it to production. I'd bet against it. Too bad.

Keep you fingers crossed, I am in for one. Only problem is that with a release date of 2020 I would not be in the market for one until 2023 when it is selling used for $40,000.

I remember the Alfieri from 2014 very well. If the write up predicting a 2017-2018 intro is anywhere near correct I could be a buyer.

I see the new Maserati TV adds with their exhaust note as being the selling point. Sounds like a 6 cyl. to me and not to impressive. I'm not to enamored with the style/design of their line of cars. Just my opinion

80% of all Maserati's are 6 cylinder and historically has been a majority V6 company.

Most probably there will be an Alfieri, including an electric Alfieri. See the url below:
