Have '09 XKR, local wrecker just got' 07 XK in. Preemptive acquisitions?

Hopefully I conveyed the entire question in the title, but if not :
Yall have any recommendations/advice as to which parts to cannabalize from the XK for my XKR? I plan on having the XKR for a long time but I'm not confident enough to determine a) what would be/wouldn't be compatible and b) what is likely to be both necessary to swap in the future and also somewhat - a lot pricey.
Any wisdom you can impart would be appreciated.

Interesting topic... do you really need a complete parts inventory on the shelf?
If so, ...
BUT, my '07 is the most dependable car I have ever owned. There are the expected wear and tear parts. And I won't be replacing those parts with someone else's poorly maintained (let alone wrecked) headache.
I have a long list of maintenance items which includes some new parts. OEM, only.
Good maintenance is key.
For some, the headlights may be worth acquiring. I've had mine refurbished and now also have a protective film on them.

Huh. Probably most everything except the engine, hood, front bumper cover, exhaust back box and suspension struts are common between the two. There’s probably a few bits in the engine bay that are common too.
Same color inside and out?
If you’ve got the space, guess you can part out the pieces you don’t want or need.

Adaptive headlights were an option, so most 4.2’s will not have them (mine doesn’t). By refurbished, he probably means getting them polished, as the lens can get cloudy (usually due to UV exposure).
If they’re cloudy on the inside, it may require taking the housing apart to polish the inside the lens (although some work, like the inside of the projector lens can be done through the hole where the bulb mounts).

Thanks. Fixing cloudy (at least out here) is usually an outside polish. Replacement HID.
They're cute, but unnecessarily complicated (meaning potential replacement at some point). Anyone have comments on how long these headlights last? Is replacing them w/ conventional self leveling headlights an option? Easy install? I checked. Used (eBay and similar) are roughly 1k. Stocking parts pre need makes sense for these cars.

In addition to the outside being polished, then clear coated, then sealed with a protective non refracting film, the adaptive mechanism was cleaned and lubed, the wiring was redone, the insides were cleaned.
Recall that I think cars are for driving. No matter what the conditions. And it gets really dirty and stone chipped. The sealing film is supposed to self mend/correct itself…. we’ll see.

You're smart to think ahead. Just looked at the cost of headlight assemblies, actual lights, modules (3 needed), etc. Wow. If the cannibal parts price on complete headlight units is halfway reasonable, I'd put them on your list. You may not have adaptive but conventional lights are still self leveling. If they're adaptive and you don't need, please pm me.
