Help! Passenger seat stuck in fully reclined mode!!

So the wife decided to take my '07 XK conv out for detailing. Well, the car came back nice and clean, but it looks like something happened to the passenger seat motor. The seat reclines back, but doesn't recline forward!! I think the motor tries, but nothing happens.
We tried a bunch of things (seat memory recall, disconnect battery, reset windows) and ended up with a seat that is now so leaned back that it is impossible for anyone to use the passenger seat.
I looked the issue up online and found that this might need a seat motor reset with a Jaguar tool. Is it expensive? Any workarounds?
Thanks!

Your issue sounds like another member's issue a few weeks or months ago. He took his car to a dealer that was able to correct it fairly rapidly. However, you should also check your battery to make sure it is functioning properly. your car is about nine years old and if the battery has not been changed it is probably time to replace it. If you do replace it, make sure that it is fully charged. My guess is you will probably need to have the dealer reset or repair the passenger seat. Good luck!

As explained to me once as it happened to me on a Merc, these types of motors have a type of memory that can be lost. It has a name but I cannot recall it.
They loose their operating parameters and this worked on my Merc. You have to reset them by holding the switch down for a short period at the end of its movement cycle.
So move the seat forward so that the seat has room to recline as far as possible and then recline the seat but hold the switch down for at least 5 seconds once it has reached its limit. Then try and recline forward to its limit and hold again for at least 5 seconds . This seat may of course not move as per your post.
If this doesn't work you could try resetting the memory by disconnecting the battery and connecting the two leads together . This apparently suggested on other threads resets all on board memory. Never tried this myself but there arefew posts regards this. Otherwise it's probably a trip to the dealer/Indy

This happened to me with the installation of a new battery. This is one of a number of things that has to be reset when you replace the battery. My dealer reprogrammed the seat and did an oil change in an hour.
I don't know how easy/difficult it is to do on your own. There are threads here discussing this problem, but I don't recall if they include a diy instruction.
