Getting ready to sell my 2010 XKR convertible - 66000 miles in excellent condition - no issues. I know that this group has a greater appreciation for these cars, but how would u guys price this? Thank!

 

Depending on how long you want to wait for the right buyer:

Under $20K should sell it in a few weeks.

~$22.5K should sell in 4-8 weeks.

~$25K 2 to 4 months.

Over $27.5 K 4 to 8 months.

 

Bring a wash cloth as you are about to take the Jaguar bath. Don't know market value but but assume it to be around $20K. Even at that price I would think you would have a long wait and will most likely have to reduce the price. The key is how long can you wait. As an example I sold my 2012 XKR convertible with 24,000 miles last december for $30K. The car was in primo condition (we all think they are) . I bought it in 2014 with 6,666 miles on it for $75K. took me a month to close the deal even in the winter. So if you need to sell it then $15K is your number. Good luck a swallow hard.

 

Me would be looking hard at service if in the market , Has it just had the usual oil and over priced service from a jaguar dealer or Indy or has a car that age been cherished by its previous owner in having belts fluids and plugs replaced , loads out their having not and on here , a true enthusiast will have done . Chancers won't

 

I have the same car, black-on-black, 20" Kalimnos wheels, which were an option in our year. 79K miles.
I'd list it at $21,900.
First person to hit 17,500 takes it.
Also, for what it's worth, I love Lunar Gray on these cars....

 

Do you even think you'd get a bite at $27.5? I can't imagine.

Really, your Cars in America was very very cheap...
In Europe and especially in Austria this Cars was very expensive.
I bought my XK R-S last year for 60.000€ that was 70k in Dollar.
This was normal prices here.
The Original price for my Car as new was 190.000€ in Austria....

cars in the US are cheap, that's for sure, but if you buy this one (mentioned in a first post) - let's say for 20k USD and want to import it to EU it will end up with ~35k USD bill (at least to Poland as vat and all custom duties are country specific). Which is no longer a bargain.

but yes to buy it and use it in the US - cars are very cheap...

ps. Cars in Austria are expensive, that's another part of the show

 

That was quick, just keeping it one year? Some guys have gotten in the high end of ask by waiting it out.

 

The best time to sell a convertible is in early spring. The worst time to sell a convertible is in a middle of pandemic just as weather starting to turn cold in 4- season states.

 

I don't drive it much at all - mainly drive my SUV and looking to sell B4 it has any issues.

 

Good point. If you were wanting to get into another car, might be best just to take a beating on a trade in.

 

Local Jaguar dealership had a 2010 XK coupe for a few months this summer listed at $28k. It wasn't a color I was interested in, but drove to guage my interest in the XK/XKR model. I pointed out KBB was like $7k lower (it only had 30k miles) and they might need to adjust expectations and they weren't too worried about it. Looks like it is no longer on their site, but it was there a LONG time at that price.

 

My understanding is that these types of cars tend to see a downward value curve for the better part of their early life. At about 15 years old, a low mileage copies start to increase. If you do not need to sell it, I wouldn't. The price will also depend on how you sell it and finding the right buyer. I have a 2008 XKR convertible that is for sale with 70K miles. Last year a 2007 of same color and mileage was sold at B-J auction for $26.5K. That's before fees. I have had interest and some test drives, but do not need to sell, so I do not mind holding out for fair price or even keeping long term. Regular buyers will use KBB.com for value. Excellent condition high range for your car peaks out at around $22.5K.

 

Wow - I didn't realize how far these had fallen in value recently. Time to re-adjust my Hagerty policy. /wry chuckle For my local area they're estimating 20-24k.

Not that I'm selling mine anytime soon. I've owned it for 9 years now and love it. Nothing is wrong, the body is perfect, the interior is holding up VERY nicely. I've got about 42k on mine, and is still my first choice of car to go out and about in.

Although, I should point out that the Pandemic has actually raised prices on used cars. The supply interruption on new cars plus public transportation becoming a bit of a pariah has left many car lots with little to no used inventory. No one is trading in, and folks are still buying - at least in the PacNW area.

I love this stuff. Here's a little Covid Procrastination thing I did:

Some takeaways:
- this seems to be split mostly between ’07-’09 X150’s, and older X100’s. Few 2010+ MY cars here.
- which is good news: I'd say almost half of these are X100's. And few people with 2010+ cars are dumping them, at least not on this site.
- both the highest and the lowest numbers here resulted in reserves not met.
- The overall “spray pattern” of dots are declining slightly, but not much.

I eliminated the two oldest auctions. That brings us to a more-or-less three year sample, from late 2017 to today, of 50 cars:
- not surprisingly, almost all the results (40 out of 50) are between $10K and $30K.
- bad news for those of us with higher mileage cars: as always, lower mileage trumps year, if you had to choose. Some high bids for older cars-- with VERY low mileage.
- only seven results above $30K. Almost half of those had “reserve not met.”
- 11 results lower than $15K. Again, about half were reserve not met.
- Bad news: most of the sub-$15K results were auctions since 2019. Good news: there were two 2007 XKR’s below $15K; all the rest were older X100 models.

Unfortunately, not enough data on 2010+ cars to give the OP much information. (Someone got $32K for a 2011 XKR about a year and a half ago-- BUT it only had 18K miles.)
