My own. It'll be an event but it shows how its not just the car industry that charges more just for a label. If it's labeled for a wedding you can rest assured that its 3-5 times what it should cost.

$1 Sold Jaguar 2012 XKR-S, 6,000 miles, excellent condition, 1 owner, pick your color... (WTF)
I wouldn't even consider purchasing a single one of those cars for half the price.

That SLKamg is a great car.... I'd pick it over an F Type I'm afraid... I looked hard at it when I was shopping for my XKR. Nowhere near as special but the performance and fun factor are staggering.

Fun toy kind of car. Well made, fast and all that, but a yawner in the looks department.

I'm sure it performs well but looks a bit wimpy IMHO. Although I'm not much of a MB fan except for the SLS.

Anything with a AMG badge is an astounding performer. But, that's a lot of money for a tiny little car.

C63 AMG coupe would be a better option for that price.

This is why I am so confused at why the Aston Martin guys are getting so bent out of shape at AMG helping them... Aston is lacking in Engines and Transmissions... Globally I don't think there is a better place to look than AMG. Cosworth?

An Aston with an AMG engine is a winner! I wonder how much that would push up the price to a point where its unattractive.

Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG formalize technical partnership - Autoblog

Currently Aston has a V8 that Jag has been selling them for 20 years - newer ones with more displacement. The V12's are nothing more than 2 ecotec V6's placed together and didn't even get things like variable valve timing until recently. A 6.3 AMG V8 would be epic in an Aston with a good transmition - The current Aston tranny's are atrocious.

Cosworth or Honda partnership would be much more appealing than a Mercedes engine in an Aston, IMO.

Honda for an aston... no way. Nothing about the brands mesh.

The last thing I want in a 150k+ car is two ecotecs glued together.

I am on the same boat as you. I have witnessed the same circulating notion regarding the Aston Martin owners.

Showing so much resistance to AMG engine in an Aston Martin and praising the agricultural engines in the current AM cars, built by Ford, is just stupid.

One thing i do agree on is that, performance is the not the most important factor. I personally love Ferrari, as they build a car around an engine. The actual body of their cars are just an all purpose art work. But, if i was going to spend money on a exotic sports car, it would be an Aston Martin as the HP numbers wouldn't mean anything.

In order to stay operating in business today and of course, make profit, you have to adapt. Whether it's the auto industry, fashion industry, education, one must really advance to stay afloat in such a competitive market. Therefore, i am all for AMG engines in the Aston Martins.

I'm not saying they NEED to introduce forced induction - although turbos are the way of the future. BUT they need to do something. Corvettes have more tech nowadays. The same type of buyers are shopping for Jaguar XK/R/RS and we don't want all of the extra bells and whistles of an audi infotainment but we want a mature, handsome car that is thrilling to drive. We don't care about being the fastest but we don't want to be ashamed of of specs either! For the sticker price it should be pretty damn good at a lot of things.

You are absolutely right. That's why i think this collaboration will benefit them quite a bit.

If it ends up working out like Tata for Jaguar, AM will become a very successful company.

We should have a sticky on our page for dealer reviews... This could be inclusive of buying experiences as well as service - with/without mods. That would be very helpful since THIS is the car that most people new to Jag [like myself] end up especially.

Thoughts?

This is a GREAT idea. There are so many positives with an idea like this. It will benefit other potential purchasers of Jaguar products and may just keep many Jaguar dealerships on their toes to do things right for this very discriminating car buyer.

Since not many of these cars are sold every dealership needs positive reviews. Also any reviews here on this forum will filter throughout the internet.

So, bottom line...this is a GREAT idea. Of course, it's so easy to start a thread on this new topic.
