Since we are doing interesting pictures with dubious Jaguar relevance, I came upon this meme today. I'm sure that interior is that of the first generation XF in Ivory and oyster with walnut burl (which I had in mine)
I've seen car dealers who advertise an option to have the dealer badges either removed or omitted altogether . . . for an additional fee. That is truly obnoxious behavior.
I always warn selling dealer that if they badge MY car, I will treat it as damage and will refuse delivery. Nobody testing me so far.
My current Jaguar dealership, I like them, and they have very solid protective license plate frame. They asked me if I wanted one, I accepted and it is installed on my car. That is the only frame/badging on any of my cars.

Exactly!
When I ordered my 1989 Toyota Supra I noted that every car on the lot had a dealer badge on it. Not only did I tell the sales manager that if my car was defaced with a badge the deal was off, I told him to make sure my first stop after leaving the lot was not a gas station. When I picked the car up it was devoid of any dealer markings and the tank was full.
You own the deal--not just the car--make sure you get what you want and make doubly sure not to take anything you don't want.
There is a local dealership that keeps saying they'd known for Corvettes all around (cough bull **** cough), Berger Chevrolet.
I've seen older Corvettes with their plaque honest to god RIVETED to the rubber bumper of the car. They were rubber bumper C3s but wow that's sad.
If I buy a car from you, you can do a little license plate frame, but nothing else. If I bring the car to you for a recall or service, don't touch it. No frames, nothing. I will flip out like a "Real" Housewives cast member on you.
Of the many culture shocks when I moved to the states was the need to have the make of the vehicle displayed in the largest possible letters.
I still cannot understand that mindset- where consumers would be willing to have a bloody billboard on the back of the car they paid for.

Ha Ha, It's just because we have to be reminded that we paid too much!
Much of the large badging/lettering on the rear of many vehicles is designed to stop the aftermarket from making knock-offs of those body parts, which becomes trademark infringement if they do.
Also, since trucks are pictured, there is quite a bit of rivalry between Truck Owners with Brand Loyalty. Having billboards is sort of an In-Your-Face-My-Truck-Is-Better-Than-Yours statement.
I bought this Series III last year from a dealer across the country and assumed this dealer badge was stuck on with tape. When I went to remove it I found it was drilled on and there were two holes in the back of my car. Needless to say, I was furious. This car is in pristine condition, however the trunk had, unbeknownst to me since the mechanic who inspected it for me as I bought the car sight unseen, didn’t mention the trunk had some paint checking and needed to be repainted. Fortunately, I had the trunk repainted and the two holes filled in and repainted and the paint matched the rest of the car’s beautiful original paint. I lucked out with that. But who would drill holes in a luxury car like that just to put a dealer badge on??
When I first came to USA I was so confused as to why trucks had Chevrolet, Ford written in massive letters across the entire back. In Europe we had never seen anything like it- in fact, just the opposite, that was the era when if your Merc said 500sec on it, you took the badge off.
I usually take off the model number badge on any car I buy. Saves a time detailing and I like the cleaner look. On the Aston's, the badges are real metal!
