High Mileage XKR-S
#21
I own and owned a number of classic cars. I like to drive them, so my requirement is road-ready. Both mileage and age are indirect signs of how problematic the car would be, however lack of maintenance is #1 accurate predictor of problems and it can happen to high miles and low miles cars alike. However, if I were picking a car to drive I'd take one with higher miles with good records over low miles garage queen. Sure, higher miles when taken to extreme (e.g. 275K+ miles) might indicate you are up mechanical limits of a lot of hardware, but in-between (e.g. 50K to 175K) there isn't much difference, given that all known flaws are addressed.
In terms of bathtub curve - random failures don't care about mileage and that what drives your 'used driver' experience.

low tolerance engines hit a sweet spot after 40k miles- when they get broken in. High tolerance engines pretty much start at the sweet spot.
Exotic cars are no different than supermodels. Under 30, there are still kinks to be ironed out. Over 75, you can come out ahead if you know how to do hip replacement surgery.

Any opinions on the pros & cons of buying a high mileage XKR-S?

One VIN decoder on the Canadian car says it is a 2013 XF
https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check...A4HA7DMB49637#
The VIN decoder on this site says it is an XKR-S
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/v...inDecoderFarea
The VIN decoder on both sites says the car on ebay car is an XKR-S

I bet the Canadian guy would take $30K cash!
(for a car he does not own)

What's even funnier is the mountain some of the folks here climbed to pass a fart- like SinF educating us there was no mechanical difference between a car with 50k miles and 175k miles. Yet he could not answer how the hell do you put 100k miles on a xkrs in 3 years in a country with only 1 highway that is covered in snow and deer 6 months out of a year.

Now, stolen pictures are problematic. However, this is local listing from a local business that has a sign visible on Google drive (capture date is June 2016). How are they going to show, less sell, the car if they don't have some kind XK? This isn't private sale. So likely explanation for pictures is laziness.

Not entirely so simple:
The environment can affect it dramatically.
250k in Manhattan- forget it.
Most folks outside Manhattan dont even realize that a bumper-bully is a necessity even on a car that is never driven.
250k in Chicago in a Jag, only if it wasnt driven in the winter. Most arent.
No way can a car that travels on dusty roads do the same miles as a car that travels on clean paved roads, unless it was built for it.
