Had a convertible repair company work on my 2007 xk today. When hethey was done they could not get the top to close all the way. He pushed it down manually and tighten it with a allen wrench. The information display now says "Hood not latched". I cannot get the top to open or move at all. I tried loosening the top with the allen wrench and letting the pressure off of the pump but still nothing happens! Does anyone have any suggestions?
If that doesn't work go to thejagwrangler.com. He is also a member of this Forum and the convertible top expert. He invented the one touch top control for our verts. Probably the best aftermarket accessory you can put in your car. He should be able to provide you with some assistance. On top of all of the above he is a very nice guy.
Read this old thread in its entirety, in particular Post #13 by WhiteXKR. That's Steve, the Jag Wrangler, the Forum's soft top guru who ralphwg mentioned above. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...latched-52822/
The most important first step is to make sure that your battery is fully charged. Here's a screenshot:
I agree with Ralph. Steve's remote control top module is the best accessory for your vert - it's what the factory forgot. I installed mine in 2014 by myself, and if I can do it anyone can. See my Post #4 in this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nstall-180943/

open and close all doors tightly including trunk and hood, reset windows(window button all the way up 5 seconds and window button all the way down 5 seconds)let the roof go in the trunk, make sure the battery in the car fully charged,Mine did this too and i did all these things and it got it back working.I hope it's not more serious than that.Somehow your car just needs to remember what it's programmed to do if it's not damaged or pump gone bad.If they screwed with your pump, that can jack your top up too where it can't work right again. If they act like they can't fix it,take it to the dealership. They not gone charge much if they find out it's only an easy fix.I did it for my 2007 when i called myself dropping the top and using up a lot of battery power when my tire blew out.Top was acting funny like it didn't want to latch and i screwed with the pump.Had to do it like yours with the allen wrench and screwed it down to shut it and took it to the dealership and all they did was reset my pump for me that i had messed with and it fixed it.Everything worked like it should when my battery got charged back up
