Default Hood Vents

So I got some carbon fiber hood vents. Just seeing what you think if I should keep my old vents (chrome strip in the middle) or do the carbon fiber.

Old Vents:

Carbon fiber looks great. Very subtle.

I like the carbon fiber, too. BTW, I love your blacked out grilles! I should do that to mine...

I'm going the other way on this, not a fan of carbon fibre bits.

They look fine on race orientated cars where this material is used to save weight. The carbon weave is on display because paint also adds weight.

The Jag isn't this kind of car and doesn't suit it, the rest of your car is stunning and this kinda looks odd. Unless you stripped out the interior, Carbon seats, had light weight wheels etc etc. Then it may suit.

Sorry...you want honesty

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'll wait to make a final decision when I have it in the sun. Just been cloudy all day today. Also, I was hoping there was a CF ducktail spoiler (blackpack/175 anniversary style) and CF front splitter. This way there are a few pieces of CF and not just the hood vents. Chris at Mina is looking into that.

Thanks johnnnnnnyy for your opinion too. I do want everyones opinion...pluses and minuses.

I think the CF vents would look best on a white car. I did see a white XFR on the XFR section with these vents and looked great.

I got mine from Chris at Mina. They only have it shown on their XF section but looking at the vent, it looked the same as our XKRs and so I called Chris and he said they will fit. If anyone is interested, I would call Chris just to make sure again that it will fit on the X150s. The good thing is the previous vent (louvers) are very easy to remove and install (tabs) and these CF vents uses double sided 3M tape so I can go back to the other vents really quickly.

The good thing about the hood vents is they just snap in! You can swap them in and out depending on your mood!

According to Mina's website, they are made of real carbon fiber: Jaguar XFR Carbon Fiber Hood Louvers

BTW...those with a 2010+ XKs...there are accessories for your rotary shifter. I got a red one for my Rover. These will also work for the Jags with the rotary shifter.

I like the CF on a black car if you go for a total black out look .mine is a silver 08 XKR with the Super charged chrome strip ,I don't think the CF vents would look good on silver Q.Do you have a different front Bumper your side vents under your fog lights seem to have a different grill in them ,mine are imitation mesh. Since they are real carbon fiber they would (as you say) be a subtle positive difference, especially if there are a few other bits that are real carbon fiber. They do (in my opinion) accentuate your cars look.

Wonder how the double sided tape will do being directly over one of the hottest parts of the engine?

You need more carbon fiber touches to balance out the hood vents. Just having carbon fiber on the hood looks like an after thought. If you could do rear lower valance and front spoiler trim in carbon then it would look purposeful.

The vents on their own look nice, but a little out of place as it stands for me.

I like em, but then again I've always preferred the original shape ones over the mesh with chrome.

The funny thing is I just found out Jaguar actually sells carbon fiber hood vents for their XKRs in their accessories page. Genuine Jaguar accessory part.

I like the carbon ones on your car, too.

I might need a set of those for the XKR-S...They would help compliment the carbon front splitter and diffuser. Should have been standard equipment.

Ordered a set for the XKR-S, hope they fit!

EDIT - I emailed Mina last night and they said they will indeed fit the XKR-S. They also said they are coming out with the carbon mirror covers soon, maybe next week. I think those will make the mirrors look like the XKR-S GT mirrors. He also mentioned the carbon fiber front splitter they sell is thicker and more durable than the stock XKR-S one. So, if mine ever cracks I know what I will replace it with.
