Default How bright is enough

Hi all, I've posted on this forum about the LCD screen between the speedo and rev counter being dim when I'm out in the direct sun making it hard to read especially with sunglasses.. The moment I go into an underground car park or back into my own garage the screen is much brighter and it's easy to see the information on it.

I'm thinking of replacing the whole cluster but before I did that was wondering if other 2006-2009 XK owners have the same problem and it is just similar to trying to read an ipad outdoors. If it's a common issue with these cars I will just put up with it.

So how bright is your own screen in the sunlight?

Brian,

I've moved your post from General Tech Help to X150 forum because it is a very specific model and year range question.

There is no lack of sunlight here in southern AZ, and I have no trouble seeing the clock or messages that appear on that screen.

It may be possible some of the lamps are out and that is why it does not light well in sunlight. Try looking up threads by Ranchero50, I seem to remeber he replaced bulbs in the cluster while he was moding his ride. As I remember, it was fairly easy to remove for to access them.

Not me, another guy with a fuzzy screen that looked like it had sun damage. Display is a module that plugs into the cluster board. You should be able to salvage one from a wrecked XF cluster.
