In the meantime I decided also to go ahead and get the stainless grill from MinaGallery for my '08 XK. It installed in minutes, right on top of the original grill with a few 4mm stainless screws. Those screws are nearly invisible from any viewing distance and I am super happy with the way the bright grille works on the Pearl British Racing Green (Emerald Fire) paint. At this point I only installed the upper grille, wishing to emphasize the upper intake.

I even went ahead and ordered from MinaGallery the chromed side vent covers that simply go on top of the factory ones with double sided tape. I was apprehensive about that kind of installation but, to my surprise, the Mina trim is beveled very nicely and looks totally stock and natural on the car. Again, it added an other jewel-like quality to the beautiful dark green color.

Thanks again for posting. Your car looks spectacular. Enjoy!!!

Albert
Albert,

Did you put the top grill on over the stock grill, growler too?

Tom, I'm a new member and purchased a 2007 XK with an after market grill that i'm planning on replacing. Is the grill on your 2008 XK a Mina Gallery grill or original equipment ? It looks awesome with the chromed wing. Thanks Chefrico

I decided on a grille w/o logo - I find, it´s cooler looking. "Larger".

Both, grille and gills, are replacements, I have the originals in my garage.

Have fun, Hermann

Cee Jay, Thanks for the update and your quick response. The Mina grill looks similar to the OEM grill and is far easier to install, but' I'm not certain of the quality of the Mina grill? My local Jaguar dealer charges $ 550.00 to install the OEM grill, which seems crazy expensive. A Junior member named Arminius has just sent me a picture of a chrome wire mesh grill on a XK that looks great and is probably a OEM. Thats what I was searching for before I made a final decision.

Hi -

Where did you get your grill? The only chrome grill I can find is on eBay from Germany and it does not look anything like yours. Yours is awesome.

Try Kris at Mina Gallery in Chatsworth CA. Website www.minagallery.com. Tell him you are on the Forum. I'm not sure, but I think you will get a discount.

Several years ago I bought a 2006 XK8 Victory Edition which had an aftermarket grill. The guy I bought it from said it took him only a few hours to replace the stock grill.

XK8s and XKs and XKRs are vastly different though. Totally redesigned from the tires up. You may have stumbled into the X150 forum instead of the X100 forum. You're welcome to stay, but most things won't apply to your XK8.
Also, this thread is over a year old since last post.
