Default How to improve the exhaust note

Hello,

I have a 2007 XKR. I would like to improve the exhaust note without changing out the stock exhaust system. Has anyone removed the secondary resonator/muffler ? If so what were the results. Will it still pass California emissions ?
Thank you for your time.
Gregg

That, and use the shift paddles. You may find that there's no need to mess with anything else. Fuse 19 is located behind the rear seatback, in the center. It's musical and not obnoxious.

Buy an OEM XK center (mid-section) exhaust pipe. One resonator instead of two. Bliss.

You can also delete the center section and add a xpipe

It controls the vacuum pump to the bitterly valves on you exhaust. By removing fuse 19, the valves will stay open, this less restrictive exhaust and louder.

Oh wow! That sounds like a mod that just cries out to be made If I don't like it, I just pop the fuse back in. Thank you so much!

Is there a remote valve control to replace the fuse on the XKR? They sell something for Aston's that works great. Allows you keep the exhaust open when you want it and quiet it on the hwy. For Aston's it's like $70 and hand made in the UK

Corvette guys have for years used a thing like this controlled by the garage door HomeLink pad; link it to the Fuse Disconnect and with a press of a 'garage door' button, the valves open and close.

Would be easy to replicate something like this if you wanted to... 1 switch mounted somewhere for convenience, 2 pieces of wire from switch to rear fuse box and 2 blade connectors to go in place of fuse 19... Probably would make sense to also add a mini fuse holder at the rear on one side with the correct amp fuse to protect the wiring...

Well, I removed the fuse and just had to do a two hour round trip. Fabulous! Much more growly at lower speeds now! And free! And reversible! What a great mod - thanks guys!

I think I pulled Fuse 19 in 2011. I haven't had any need to reinstall it or spend any more money to "improve" the sound. To my ears, it's perfect.

Here's the site. If it's same kind of fuse it could be the same one.

Does the XK have secondary passive cats? I thought they do. That made a nice difference on my Vantage. Sharper throttle too.
