Mine is supposed to be limited to 174 (280 km/h), but it seems the 75 was actually set to 186 (300 km/h).

I've only had one experience with a limiter -- U-haul trucks all have them. It's like 75, I think. They don't tell you and you're like "oh, damn-- out of gas!" That's what it feels like-- you're at a speed, you floor it, and the engine glugs a little and the car will go no faster. Uh-oh....
Took me slowing down and speeding up a few times before it hit me what was going on.
I always suspected that the XKR-S just didn't have one. I mean what the hell would a limiter even feel like at 175mph??? And they gotta figure: who's EVER going to know?
Besides-- is the theory that, you know.... sure, 175 is cool... but 180 is TOO FAST BUDDY
Even when Top Gear did the XKR-S they ran out of room to get it much above 150.

My 75 definitely would not go faster than 186 - and it did take longer to get the last few MPH. It was at about 5500 RPM (I think) in 6th so probably around peak power, but there was a distinct cessation of acceleration at that speed. I suspect it would have got into the 190s with no limiter and enough road. It was certainly stable enough and felt completely safe.

That's really low mileage, only 454 miles per year for a 500 year old XK8!

I regret being the bearer of bad news, but you're in the wrong Forum as well as the wrong century.

My apologies for being a smartass. Obviously, what you wrote - 11/2519 - is not what you meant - 11/25/19. That happens with typos and ambiguous sentences. My favorite example is "John mopped the floor with Fred." Here's a picture of Fred.

Default 2011 XKR - Just under 25,000 miles

I've got five cars now, and two of them have 100.000 plus miles. But I've always been torn between the benefits of keeping the mileage low, versus the fun of driving them... Not just with the Jag Coupe, but with any of the nicer cars I've owned in the past. However, as I've become older, [at 74] I've finally learned to just let go and drivie them all without consequences. Lately I've begun to wonder.... What in the hell was I thinking? Saving a car for the afterlife?? YOLO

Bought it in September 2019 with 25,265 miles. Then drove it home from Dallas to West Virginia.

Today is Thanksgiving 2019 and its now showing 31,095. Had two nice road trips to Savannah and Norfolk. Love the seats on the long drives.
