Default How to raise back windows?

So my car was in a wreck today. After, I got a warning that the top was not latched. So I pushed the button to latch the top, no change. I pushed it the other way to see if the top would function. The back windows went down, then nothing. Tried to put them back up, but nothing.

I'd like to get the windows back up in case of rain. How can I trick the car and put them up?

Huh? a wreck! I was just reading your previous postings on this new acquisition. Obviously, you know how it operates, could the accident have something to do with it?

Are you seeing anything on the message center screen? Since the rear is where the damage is it could be the trunk not or indicating it is closed or the luggage shade not in position. After my accident I had to push the top storage cover down to cycle the top since the body was a little bent.
My point is that it is probably something at the rear that is out of position because of damage.

Yes, the message center screen says the top is not latched. It is latched. Something is screwy due to the wreck. Just wondering if there is some way to force the windows up despite the issue from the wreck.

I wouldn't touch it. If you do, the body shop will say that it was your fault.

The body shop that did the repairs should stand behind their work and fix it. How long has it been since you got the car back from them? What does the paperwork say about their warranty on parts and labor? Contact your insurance company for assistance.

110Reef, hold the roof close button down (up) for 60 to 90 seconds to see if it will reset and raise the rear windows.

It has not gone for repairs yet. Just happened yesterday. I don't want the rain getting in while it is waiting for disposition.

Nobody does aluminum body work around here apparently. Nearest jag shop is near Jackson Mississippi, 147 miles away. We'll see if insurance finds a different alternative.

Thanks! - I had already tried that. I am thinking that maybe I should pull the fuse for a few seconds then replace and see if that does the trick. Visually, there does not seem to be any damage in the top area, so you would think that it isn't an issue.

The top will not operate if the boot is unlatched (except for rear window down, which you discovered). I suspect, looking at the damaged area, that the boot is not latching properly.

The rear window relays are contained inside the top control module and not accessible without significant interior disassembly.

I think a tarp is your best bet.

Looks like the strike has wracked the top and it can no longer make up the latch switches. Make sure the appraiser knows this fault is present when they run the numbers that will be included.

The top was up when I was hit. The top latches are still closed. Maybe it is the boot, but it does open and close, so it is not that bad. The rest of the top seems to be in great shape. Its a mystery to me.

I assume you can open the boot up . Did you check to make sure the to cover is in place. Also can you force the trunk closed so it latches.

I did check the cover. It seems OK. The boot does latch and unlatch, opens and closes.

Check with the Dealership, Paretti Jaguar, in Baton Rouge. They can also recommend a body shop locally.

Thanks! I did that and it is currently at one of the two shops they recommend. However, they really cannot do aluminum work and are not Jaguar certified so they cannot access parts if they have to do any body panel work or structural work. These cars are riveted together rather than bolted or welded, plus made of aluminum, and very particular skills and tools are needed to do body work on them. Jaguar controls it closely by controlling parts. A local shop can access parts to do things like replace the trunk lid, or replace the bumper, which are bolted on, but not a quarter panel for instance. The nearest certified shop is 147 miles away and I understand that the backlog is months. I am hoping my damage is not so extensive that the local shop can do it. We will see.

My advice: Don't wreck your Jag.

I learned how special the Jag aluminum's body is in 2004. We had our XJ-R only a few months and was rear-ended. Luckily, was a qualified shop in our area.
