Thanks mate, your right I prefer going with OEM if possible so the Motorcraft ones it is.

Thanks again for posting the part numbers up. brilliant!!

dirtyodwyer,

Yes, the Motorcraft/Jaguar front upper control arms worked perfectly. Sorry I am just now seeing your reply.

Cheers,

Peter

2PCS Front Upper Control Arms w/Ball Joint Ford Thunderbird Jaguar S-Type LS | eBay
That's just under A$300 delivered. I just ordered A$1761 (plus A$455 freight) worth of parts for my 02 S-Type. Including a set of those arms at about the same or a bit more. Originally I had them confused with Rear arms which were a lot dearer. LOL. Pity Ford parts are very expensive Down Under!

The Ford part number for the nut on the upper control arm ball joint is N807144-S441 and the price at my local Ford dealer is $9.99. That nut is not offered on the Jaguar parts website.

The control arm price was $161.33 each plus shipping at Sunrise Ford, Fontana, CA.

Can anyone confirm the rear upper control arm part number referenced is correct?

Cross referencing the Dorman part numbers on RockAuto, and they have very different dimensions.

The Jaguar part number is C2D49448/C2D49449.
The Ford part number is 6W4Z5500AA/6W4Z5500AB.

For reference, the ball joint nut for the rear suspension is listed as an M12, which indicates that the Ford part is not correct (14mm thread).
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/C65.C6557.C6557531.C65575317126/brand/jaguar/

Front upper arm M12 nut is C2Z2224
Rear upper arm M12 nut is C2P7444

Ford utilized a global parts identification system called WERS Then each part was assigned a unique manufacturer part number for example Ford Volvo Jaguar Land Rover etc. So you should be able to search the WERS number along with the Jaguar number with google and confirm a match. When I ordered by the WERS number, I received the correct Jaguar part.

Is there a set of instructions available on how to conduct this search? I don't think registration is available to the public.

https://fsp.portal.covisint.com/web/.../manufacturing

Also, I've confirmed that the front upper arms are correct, and received a Jaguar stamped part. However, for the rear, those Ford parts show a 14mm thread on joint, but the suck part is 12mm. That's the only discrepancy I've found so far.

Had anyone purchased those exact Ford part numbers and fit them into a 5.0 x150?

every upper control arm ever from 1999 s-type to the 2022 f-type is interchangeable.

if you’re buying aftermarket arms get off rockauto and go straight to ebay,

I agree that most Jaguar control arms are the same... But I went with Moog parts instead of unbranded eBay. Not sure why you would advise eBay over Rock Auto... At least Rock Auto has some customer service and manufacturers recognize it as a distributor for warranty purposes.

You're ignoring the topic of this thread in an effort to say "why don't you just buy them on eBay and learn how to use Google". I spent hours looking up part numbers and cross referencing specs to save others potential headache if buying a Ford part that might not fit. You just sound like an ***.

Rear upper arms with the Ford part numbers referenced in the first post of this thread are likely NOT interchangeable with Jaguar, unlike the front upper arms (which are have a MotorCraft part number and Jaguar in the casting). At the very least, the length dimensions, and threading on the ball joint don't match... Whether it does work or not is a question I had. That's the entire point of this thread.

they are all interchangeable

every

single

one

right now there’s an 2002 aston martin vanquish driving around with upper control arms out of a wrecked x351. not kidding

by the way the whitebox ebay parts with the blue crimp rings are the the same as the moog. rockauto customer service is horrible compared to the ebay money back guarantee

Dude. This is about Ford part numbers working with Jaguar. Not the interchangeability of Jaguar parts. Good grief.

any dew98 car from start to finish will have interchangeable upper control arms. the only thing that’s changed is external hex to internal torx ball joint on the front.

it doesn’t matter if it’s a tbird, lincoln ls, vanquish or a jag. they all change over with 0 exceptions

Our arrogant friend Xalty just demonstrated why we shouldn't listen to advice on forums without doing our homework first.

I'll say it again. The dimensions for Ford part 6W4Z5500AA and 6W4Z5500AB are not the same as Jaguar part C2D49448 and C2D49449. I actually called Dorman to verify.

So, not only is he wrong, but he is confidently wrong. The thread is M14 vs M12, the width between bushings is different, and the length to the ball joint is different.

lol dorman has zero clue about what they sell, just look at this 😂😂

anyway the M14 ball joint does not exist. they are all M12x1.75. end of story. i’m trying to save you money and clear up the confusion.

Okay everyone, nothing to see here. Xalty says it's fine. Dorman is just kidding. M14 ball joints don't exist. Different dimensions between bushings, and the different distance to the joint is no big deal.

Until someone takes dimensions proving that Dorman is somehow publishing incorrect numbers for their CAD-designed products (not denying that possibility), Xalty is wrong.

If the Dorman dimensions are wrong, I'll call them up myself and let them know. I'm not going to buy a part with numbers that don't match what I'm trying to replace... But anyone else, be my guest. If the parts line up exactly, I have no issue admitting I'm wrong; but as of now, the published numbers are different. Full stop.

Edit:

Called Dorman back again, and they are going to pull the drawings for both parts. Each comes from a different supplier. One of us is correct. It very well might be Xalty. Either way, if the Dorman part 524-605 (6W4Z5500AA/AB) has the right/wrong dimensions, I'll update for those reading this thread in the future.

Rock Auto is a great source for parts but their customer service is the WORST...I had a recent problem with an order for Land Rover parts and they were flat out rude and basically told me if I tried to contact them again about the problem they would block me.

As for parts numbers, I realise for those who do not know it can be confusing to understand the the Ford WERS system and marque specific numbers but the WERS numbers ARE correct, can't speak for any aftermarket but I ordered through Ford VIA the WERS numbers and I received the correct Jag branded parts.
