True, in most cases. However, the XKs have such a large offset that even with a spacer the bearing area is still within the barrel of the wheel.
On other vehicles a spacer CAN affect in a much more dramatic fashion and ruin bearings. Those vehicles usually have a negative offset PLUS spacers and put therefore put load on the bearings INSIDE the barrel of the wheel. Not a good situation.

"C'est vrai, dans la plupart des cas. Cependant, les XK ont un décalage si important que même avec une entretoise, la zone de roulement reste dans le corps de la roue.Sur d'autres véhicules, une entretoise PEUT affecter de manière beaucoup plus dramatique et ruiner les roulements. Ces véhicules ont généralement des entretoises offset plus négatives et mettent donc une charge sur les roulements à l’intérieur du corps de la roue. Pas une bonne situation."

One nice thing is some factory wheels have pockets between the lugs where the stud will sit

So... the 20mm spacers on the rear turned out to be slightly too wide. Every once in a while I would hit a particularly bad dip and one of the rear tires would rub the fender liner. I put up with it for a couple of months, but I finally realized I needed to swap out the 20mm spacers for 15mm spacers, which I did last weekend.

If anyone wants my 20mm spacers, which are good for the front wheels, just send me a PM. I'm not giving them away, but I'll sell them cheap.

well since I put on my GT 5 spokes I didn’t need my 15mm spacers for the rears, so I have a set that I would sell... So long story short if someone wanted Sam’s 20’s and my 15’s they could have a full set for their ride....
