Default I lost 30hp!

My XK is growing on me and recently I've felt that I might be able to 'tolerate' 300hp instead of 4~6.
Well 2day reminded me that I live in Texas.
The past several months have blessed me with 40s and 50s as high temps and the car runs and pulls quite well.
Ok
2day we had 85(f), great for top down cruising.
Not so good for exciting accelaration.
My butt dyno said I lost 30 hp going from 45f to 85f. I'm now remembering the 100 + (f) temps that are right around the corner.
Back to saving 4 a 'R'.

Get yourself a x pipe and ecu tune and you'll be happy enough, having said that almost all cars feel a lot slower during high temperature days

Yes,,,only gonna get hotter .. Im just nw of Austin and have seem everything from 3deg to 113deg.
If you just want to cruise around the Xk is good enough but if you like
to unwind and not let a 6cyl rental car beat you on the on ramp then you need an XKR
and you know we Texans like driving fast..

My xk with X pipe, 100 cel cats and ecu tune ran 13.7 @101mph on a 33c (93f) degree night so it was stinking hot , what Im trying to say is it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper to tune your xk then resell and get the xkr believe me I've got nothing against the xkr I love them but try modifying your xk first .

I'm certain I did, it's 31 (f) at the moment but my old bones won't permit me to go out and play in the ice.
You know back in the early 70's I sold a lot of water injection systems for NA vehicles. Our research at the time showed that we could add 3~5 degrees of timing when we had the system adjusted properly. These were manufactured by a company for---Shelby/Spearco Ic. A corporation created between Carol Shelby and George Spears.
We sold @ 50, but in my shop we specialized in Euro Cars, we had noticeable improvements on the v8 MB's of the time. 3.5 and 4.5ltr
This was pre ECU but they did have bosch FI. I started wondering just how much timing is pulled out of my 2008 xk when things get warm. If it is as much as 5 degrees I might dummy up a system to determine if adding this would be worthwhile. Even back then the system was measuring rpm and vac and varying the flow based on those two. Today I would probably add gear selection to those two parameters.
OR...save my pennies and get an XKR!

The modern kits use methanol instead of water,,not only cools charge but increases octane as well.

Water/Meth will also clean the carbon off the intake valves... Eventually.

nothing new @ that, we used 50/50 in the 'old' days. I put 110K miles on a non intercooled turbo v8 running 14psi relying only on common sense and water/meth...passed the car onto a friend who collapsed the ring lands on a piston in less than 100 miles. With a later vehicle dialed in less water/meth (too much killed plugs) but added a knock sensor to up the output at the insipient knocking threshold. Fun Times!
