Remove both battery cables from the battery. Touch the cables together for several seconds being completely assured that neither cable touches the battery posts! Cover the battery top with a non-metallic shield if you feel uncomfortable. Reinstall the cables from where you removed them. Reset the window operation.
That is all.
It's really very easy, just make sure the battery is totally out of the circuit.

It will reset all the OBD monitors (used for smog test) so be sure you're OK with that!!

May I inquire as to ‘why’ you need to perform the reset?

+1

There's a limit to what a HARD RESET does. If you are hoping to clear a warning or error code, it is unlikely to help.

I have gotten quite good at the hard reset. I have to do it every time...and I do mean EVERY STINKING TIME I clear the codes...because...the car won't start.

Surely there is an independent mechanic in Chicago that will take my car and do some sorcery to it. I just have to find them.

Your car is toast. You now have to get rid of it as it will never work right.

I will give you $5k for it, right now.

Tempting as that is, I will take that under advisement, Cee Jay.

I drove to work today and man was it a glorious cruise. Love downshifting while driving through various under-bridges.

Talk to Warren Preis at European and U. S. Car Service 773-248-1200 4080 N Broadway. He was the Service Manager at Orloff many years ago. If he can't help you perhaps he can steer you in the right direction. When I lived in Chicago he serviced all my cars once they were off warranty.

Horrors. And unique, I think

Without doing a hard reset, when you try to start does it crank?

Any flagged OBD codes?

What pending OBD codes?

I will report out on this later this morning on exact codes...I guess I could just post the entire report.

To your first question, after I reset (erase) the codes using Autel AP200 and turn the car off...when I go to try and restart the Start/Stop button will not light up/engage. Some lights will flicker (warning, I forget which ones but one is to lower and to the right of the round fan dial on the infotainment) and a loud series of clicks from the relays occur.

Will try and replicate and respond later. Thanks for asking.

I would think this the obvious question: Why continue to use the ODBII tool that is clearly incompatible with this system? Why gamble on the car being absolutely bricked? Please don’t misinterpret me… I wish you all the luck and success. And I do hope a dire situation does not fall upon you.

It is a good question, but I am not convinced the tool is the fault...and really, I am going to figure this out one way or another. So, if indeed it bricks it, it will be at the shop shortly thereafter for formal testing.

Here's the specific procedure from the Advanced Diagnostics manual:
