Default IAT sensor

I finished up my valley hose replacement today but ran into a side issue. The IAT is reporting - 40 degrees which usually means an open circuit. It's always something...

If you don't mind me asking, how many miles on the car before you changed your valley hose? Any issues that caused you to change it?
