The fuel trims should settle very soon so just look at them: hot engine, parked, at idle.

Just got back from the local shop - he setup the OBD11 diagnostic - cleared all the codes and fired up the car - misfires on cylinders 6 and 8 - I'm guessing the ignition coils are the problem:

If easy, swap coil positions (but not 6 with 7!) and see if fault moves.

A cheap OBD tool is all you need for this stuff e.g. elm327

For some reason the Car Scanner Pro app (recommended by Jahummer) that I recently bought was not showing any misfire or related codes. Plus the guy did a more comprehensive check with detailed explanations.

So does anybody know what OBD2 app will read misfiring cylinders? - my Dash Command says "Misfiring monitoring" green. I don't see where the Car Scanner Pro reads misfires.

Thanks Bill - there is lots of good articles out there. This guy has an interesting three part series of vids when no codes show up. The last of the three is interesting:

I might hookup the SDD to see if the software shows misfires - not sure if it does. The Torque Pro app is said to display misfires - but it's only for Android and no ipad/apple
