Yes, I suppose it is unsourced, but this is what was posted on another forum, which is always rock solid :
"Jaguar’s flagship XK sports car will cease production this summer to make way for a wave of new Jaguar models After eights years on sale and 54,000 cars sold, the Jaguar XK is no more. Production of the Coupe and convertible will cease this summer, Jaguar has confirmed.
Jaguar is calling the decision part of a “wider strategic vision and product planning cycle,” but in reality sales in the luxury GT segment have shrunk dramatically in recent years, to the point where the XK now only accounts for 4,000 sales a year worldwide.
With the F-Type roadster and Coupe now in showrooms, Jaguar feels confident that customers after a luxury sports car are catered for. It also needs extra capacity in its factories to prepare for a wave of new models based on the new iQ[Al] aluminium platform.
The XE will be the first – the first Jaguar to be built at JLR’s Solihull plant in a brand-new facility - and will go on sale in early 2015. A production version of the QX SUV concept will follow, possibly in 2016, with replacements for the XF and XJ after that.
A replacement for the XK isn’t out of the question, but a low priority right now. According to a Jaguar insider a flagship 2+2 sports car is desirable but not before the foundations are right. “The focus is on the F-Type right now followed by an SUV and 3, 5 and 7 Series rivals.”

I would think that most Jaguar XK/XKR/XKR-S owners will feel the same. You are not alone. It is not a good feeling knowing that the models we own will no longer exist. However, Jaguar will do, and needs to do whatever it takes to find the proper market and be profitable on the bottom line.
Car designs and advancements are ever changing, but to many of us all we want is to see is the XK/XKR/XKR-S models survive.

I know this... WHen there time has come... I will bury them in the backyard and put up a headstone!!! HERE LIES THE BEST CAR EVER (XKR-S), AND ITS TWIN BROTHER!!! (XKR). I can not forsee a time ever where I will go out into the garage and not see the XK. I will do my best to keep at least the XKR-S up to snuff and see how it stands the test of time (along with myself!)

I would beware of any statements made from a salesperson about Jaguar production numbers for the future. I would think that information is tightly held info. Any production vehicle will be strictly based on supply and demand. Based on current sales, I am sure the production will be low, but wouldn't say very few. No one can second guess the amount. It is however quite interesting to see the ratios of coupe to converts at 50% for 2014 and the decrease in the color choices. 2014 looks very limited in color choice compared to 2013.

I won't say it doesn't bother me because to a degree it does but the XK I have (MY 2008) will last me then my oldest daughter a lifetime.
I average about 1500 KM ( 900 miles ) per year and when I bought the "perfect" car for myself I knew it would be the last high end car I would ever buy.
The end of any good era is a sad time but I think in the end it will only make what we have that much more special

According to an Autoweek online article today: Jaguar to end XK production in summer of 2014 - Autoweek
Production of the current XK line will stop sometime next summer for an indeterminate period of time, while Jaguar tools up and starts producing the SUV and the XE.

I cant stop laughing about this thread. Why , oh , why is everyone on this thread seem like they are on their way to a wake.
It would be really helpful if people stopped "throwing" dirt on the xk. Until I bought my 2013 xkr I never imagined there could be a more cloistered bunch of guys than the ones on this forum. Circle the xk's, the hearse is cummin!!
This car is history cause jaguar corp realized their mistake and it was a huge mistake. The car appealed to individuals who dont drive marketing and dont drive sales.
Jaguar realized that the buyers of the xk series were at best an afterthought in the car market. (I bought the car cause it was too great of a bargain to pass up and I had the skills to make it into something the factory couldnt envision.)
When jaguar realized that they had to market their cars to 20 and 30 somethings, as in the f-type, the obit for the xk was inevitable.
Look at the new f-type coupe commercial. most of the guys in that commerecial are young studs who are perceived as villians. Most girls are attracted to bad boys just cause they aint nice. This commercial screams of that
The only old guy, Ben Kingsley, is considered a villian also. the leader of a bunch of sexy villians who exude nastiness. No where in this new ad do you see anyone that looks like they are going to Mcdonalds to meet the guys for coffee every morining or picking up the wife who has blue hair.
Bout time that Jaguar corp realized who they have to appeal to , in order to stay in business. On second thought, pass the shovel, please!!!!

clois·tered
ˈkloistərd/Submit
adjective
1.
kept away from the outside world; sheltered.
"a cloistered upbringing"
synonyms: secluded, sequestered, sheltered, protected, insulated; shut off, isolated, confined, incommunicado; solitary, monastic, reclusive
"the cloistered life of a writer"
Since I have become a member of this forum, I have had communication with some very intelligent, honest, and just great people. I have come in contact with lawyers, engineers, medical professionals, college professors and so many more professional people, along with just average people who love the Jaguar brand. Many here are self made millionaires, have high net worths and have great communication skills, and they don't flaunt their personal success's.
I have never run across any member who insults others, belittle others or bully other forum members. The input that is provided here, is and has been extremely valuable not to myself, but to so many others. These forums hit individuals from all over the world in so many different countries. We as members all have a common goal, by posting within these forum walls.
I find it quite a shame that one individual would continue to insult and bully other forum members. It is not a standard practice. Perhaps this might occur on other forums, but not here.
Those who post on the XK/XKR section of the forum simply love their cars, and are very loyal to the Jaguar brand. We respect the brand, but also provide opinions when we feel they are appropriate to do so. Some opinions are positive, some negative.
I suggest that if one member does not like what they read or what others post, whether facts or opinions then you consider exiting the site and move on. Take your rudeness, insulting demeanor and go to other Jaguar sites. You lose credibility and respect, which is something every member that I have been associated with here has. I call it the TEI principle. Trust, Ethics and Integrity. It's here.
We love our XK/XKR's and hate to see the models go. We all can take change, we all can take technology advancements. We live with these everyday. So it is understandable that XK/XKR owners are a bit touched by the news that perhaps these models will fade into the sunset. Most of all, we are adult males, that are intelligent and trustworthy. We will adapt to the change. So let us provide our opinions and feelings about the loss of the models. Don't belittle, bully or insult the members.
We will succeed because we are better people than those that create controversary. Look back and a take a close at yourself, of who is the child and who is the adult here on the forums.
Keep in mind, "respect has to be earned".
