Infotainment system
i am having the issue a lot of people report of an intermittent screen; however, what I notice is that the radio will not turn on and the aerial mast does not extend.
Are these related problems or seperate issues?.
I also had the dead button issue last week where the care would not start and was completely dead. the only thing I had was the engine management light illuminated.
the car was recovered last tuesday by an RAC sub contractor and is still sitting in the secure lock up today _ RAC are not going to enjpy our chat on Monday!
Can anyone recommend a code reader
Thank you
Chris

The X150 was first available for 2006 reg as a 2007MY, his signature says 2005 and he said he has a 55 plate which is 2005. There’s a thread here somewhere clarifying UK reg for confused Yanks. Or the OP could clarify 🤷🏻♂️
EDIT: To further clarify possible confusion, in the UK the reg year is the year it was manufactured and registered and isn't the model year and is permanent unlike the US where registration can change every 1-2 years. A 55 plate means the car was manufactured and registered either in 2005 or beginning of 2006 which makes it highly unlikely to be a model year 2007 X150.

That's quite interesting. The very first X150 was produced at the end of 2005 but was never sold. Commercial production began in early 2006.

If his is truly a 2005 reg, then he has possibly the 2nd XK to roll off the assembly.

It's still a 2006 UK car, regardless of when it was built. It would be called a 2007 everywhere else. Just because some arbitrary registration period is all-hailed by some diehards doesn't mean squat. The first Mustangs came out in 1964, called 1964-1/2 by purists and there are a few differences, sort of like Beta Versions, but every one is actually a 1965.
But then again, who really cares? The OP has the first year production run of the X150 Jaguar, so let's all press on.

Regardless of generation, let’s start with the battery.
Jaguars like good batteries with good charge levels. If your battery is older, it may be time to change it, but first throw it on the charger for a good while, check the voltage and see if you can get it to start and things to get working. You may want to charge and then do the hard reset; basically pull the battery cables and touch them to each other a minute or so to discharge things.
I know on my USA market 07 XKR which of your car is a first year X150, is like mine, you have the only year with an aerial. My cars former owner got this cute little spike antenna and disconnected the factory aerial motor wiring. I have no issues with reception. However the aerial from the factory is a very simple unit behind the RH side rear interior paneling in the hatch (or trunk on convertible).
Basically the battery and voltage are the first check on weird electrical XK juju even if the car starts and runs from the battery.

Instead of being cantankerous and confrontational try being helpful which, I thought was the point of the forum
My car is an X150 manufactured on 18/10/2005. In the UK that gives it a 55 registration plate, as taken from the heritage certificate.
And it is not the battery which is fully maintained, kept on a trickle charger, and was checked by the RAC when they attended the breakdown.
You have a nice day

Having messed with Foxwell and other code readers, just save the time and get a copy of sdd and a mongoose cable and run the oem software.
SDD can also guide you on testing things. With a multimeter and some time it will effectively walk you through the troubleshooting of the car and components for the symptom, The screen or aerial as mentioned, or your no start condition. Ex, I trouble shot a check engine light, and SDD guided me through checking voltage and resistance and such and eventually replacing a fuel injector. Yeah you could do it without SDD, but it gives you component specs and pin outs in an easy to follow format.
