As some may know, I post my Jag dealer service invoices from time to time-- sure, I'm loving my warranty, but I also post to show other members how a dealer breaks down and prices the work. I'm not a super-tech but I've done my time, years ago, in service bays. And I can tell you this: at my dealership, at least, the techs are INCREDIBLY well-versed in our cars and do exceptional work-- certainly well beyond what I can do. I'm happy to trust my car to them and am also happy to overpay slightly for the basic stuff (oil and brake fluid change, etc).
From what I've read that he's written on this forum, I'm confident that's true of Brutal as well.
No one has to agree with him... but why y'all harshing on the guy??

THIS GETS BACK TO ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS NOW.
.
Disagreement, particularly with technical topics, is a normal part of forum exchanges. Personal insults and denigrating the opinions and expertise of highly experienced members is most definitely NOT. When it comes to the small number of TECH CERTIFIED members who choose to participate, we particularly value their knowledge and input. They work on more Jaguars in a month than most members will in a lifetime..
I'm sure many members will join me in hoping Brutal does not leave the forum as a result of what can only be described as a personal attack on his credibility. There are other members here who need to seriously consider the content and tone of their posts in future or they will have not have any choice in the manner or timing of their departure.
Everyone is entitled to express opposing views BUT there's a right and a wrong way to do this. Before pressing the REPLY button in any thread, please re-read your posts. If you wouldn't say the same thing face-to-face then it probably needs a re-write.

The dissenters were dead wrong, on top of being hurtful.
Here is another additive that Jaguar recommends for the XK:
PEA fuel additives. They have a TSB asking folks to add PEA (namely BG) when they have injector problems.
Frankly they could be sued for not recommending it from the get go in the handbook, as folks would never have the ubiquitous injector replacement problem.
And they know from every major gasoline manufacturer that adds PEA to gasoline, its damn near essential- more so for the Aj133 5.0
Look no further than this thread, there are several people here who have had to replace injectors, not one has had any other problem in common.

You got lost in the woods on the way to this post. Nobody here talked about fuel additives until you brought it up. The subject discussed here was Lucas oil and coolant additives, with specific focus on Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak.

The point that seems to be overlooked is that the actual manufacturers of gearboxes, ZF, as well as Jaguar itself, have recommended the use of these sorts of additives. Surely the manufacturers know more about the subject than anyone?
Lucas is a well-know company with a long history. Their own spec sheet for the additive in question states that there are "no harmful long-term effects" and they even go so far as to recommend that the product is used in brand new engines, as a preventative measure. I doubt they would make such easily disprovable (and legally actionable) claims if the product did not perform as described.

It isnt even about biting your tongue and encouraging someone for the sake of it.

Brutal, I urge you to reconsider and not leave this Forum. Keeping all the friends like me that you've helped over the years with your good advice is more important than getting back at a self-described ******* who disrespected you. He realized he was wrong and apologized. Leaving would let the ******* win; it would be like putting the victim in jail while the perp laughs. You were right and self-exile makes no sense.
Just see how many Forum members agree with me.
